Well i was watching the Norris vs Taylor match again a few days ago. and i can remember i was thrilled when i first saw this fight live in 92. but now looking back, and especially looking back at taylors current state of health, i can“t believe this fight took place. what were his management thinking??? first, after the chavez beating they move him up to welterweight, already a devision too high for him. he was a short stocky guy, with lots of speed but little power. to me, he never had the size for 147. sure, he managed to beat aaron davis for the belt, but he had life and death struggles with the ordinary duo of garcia and brown. brown even send him sprawling twice. now everyone knew that the chavez fight had taken something out of taylor. and the fights with glenwood brown and garcia should have convinced taylors management to move back down to 140. but what did they do?? they threw him in with the far bigger who battered the daylights out of him. to me, the chavez fight broke taylor. but the norris fight send him over the edge.
The horrible beating he took from Crisanto Espana didn't help either. That was a hard fight to watch.
