Agreed, I think Taylor would beat Froch, though the Cobra would have the puncher's chance. Hopefully the fight happens though. Maybe Taylor's thinking is that the old "mutual opponent" trick gives a means of comparison. Who knows, maybe they're even hoping Pascal gives him a tought fight so they can say "look Froch must be good" and hype him up a bit.

Froch is dangerous and he isn't really an attractive draw.

Not a good mix to get big fights unfortunately.

Froch is the most US marketable of the super middle champs. Yanks like aggressive punchers who are willing to take one to land one. They also like cocky guys, and Froch is the only champ with English as his main language. I am pretty sure, if Froch blows some decent fighter away in his 1st defence, ppl will start talking, and they'll talk more about the Pascal war, etc.

Kessler - apparently needs 2009 to get known in America. Perhaps Kessler-Taylor by the end of the year.
Balzsay - first, he's a bloody good southpaw, 2nd, can anyone pronounce his name, 3rd, how many contenders fancy a trip to Germany?
Bute - having an easy fight, then has to convince vs Andrade. Draws big crowds in Canada, so another one to travel for.

Taylor gunning to be 2-weight champ vs the most exciting of the 168 champs make financial sense?

or Taylor v Pascal makes more sense?

If Showtime give Taylor that late March date, for a fight no one needs, they are mugs.

That is a nice list of contenders. Hopefully the WBC give the shot to the next guy/the next guy that will take it.

Froch can't make the date as he can't fight til Apr, so it looks like Tayor wants to keep the date and get the TV money. Thus delaying his own title shot, and if he's planning on fighting a top 5 WBC contender - Pascal - I would presume he wants the title shot.

Silly, near pointless and I hope it doesn't go ahead.

Let's say Froch's rib and general physique needs a bit of a rest (afterall, he was in a 12 round WAR carrying a busted rib and perforated ear drum) - then who's to tell him to have January and February off ?

Even if it is the case that Froch is wanting an April date, which he has said what he would like to return, then I side with him.

To go straight into another hard camp of sparring running and hitting the bags after only taking off half of december and then January (a month prob filled with doing interviews and so on) could hinder his chances of winning.

I want Froch to be bang on for his fight with Taylor - and I think that if he did say March was too soon (which i agree with) then Taylor will use this as a chance to take a **** easy fight with Brian Vera-type opponent and then duck Froch for the rest of 2009.

The Pascal fight was gruelling for him I imagine. You must need to get geared up to go into the trenches after what, only 15 or 16 weeks (of which half was spent in training again) with someone at least as good as Pascal was.

Its his American debut in essence - he needs to be tip top for it.

Absolute bollocks IMO. As per my previous posts, I have never said that Taylor is afraid of Froch or of any other fighter and I doubt the majority of sensible thinking other fans have either. I do, however, think he is extremely reluctant to leave the comfort of north America and travel to the lion's den for a title fight in the way that many other fighters will and the facts tend to bear this out, looking at the Eastman farce and the recent comments from his camp about Froch needing to come to North America. Instead, it seems he is filling his boots with who-cares fights with other US/Canadian retreads. I'm sure he probably would beat Froch, hell most in the division except Kessler and maybe Bute, but he is not going the right way about proving it.

Sorry, i didnt realise Brian Vera was an amatuer Olympian, who won the commonwealth gold, was unbeaten, ranked at no3 by the WBC. :patsch

Taylor did well against Hopkins the first time (shading a sloppy win) he lost the rematch in many's eyes. Also do you not remember the Winky fight? the one which everyone cried out that Winky was robbed?

And i need point out that Taylor got knocked out and out worked by Pavlik ?

I sense your trying to dumb down Froch and play-up Taylors achievments.

The problem in your flawed argument, is the examples/ achievments you have given hold no water as Taylor looked terrible / lost.

Froch will hand Taylor his ass from the 6th onwards. And if Pascal gets the nod, it wouldn't surprise me one jot if he beat Taylor.

Froch is a fighter, not a member of the entertainment business like Taylor, who is more concerned with remaining unbeaten now to sustain his dollar-worth. And that train of thought has it's own train driver: Lou Dibella.

He is a white SMW and dangerous. He should get over to the USA get an american wife and become a citizen. Then every bob, don and harry will want to promote him.

Totally agree. It's annoying but he needs to get over stateside and start beating people up if he wants big fights. Simple as really.

At many weights, but at 168 there aren't really any big fights to be had in the states apart from Taylor. Most of the top fights (Kessler, Inkin, Baloszy, Bute, Mundine) are to be found elsewhere. Unless hes gonna fight Lacy I don't think there's much there for him. The Witter comparison is an apt one, though I do hope Froch isn't going to waste his whole career desperately trying to get some publicity and a big payday off the back of Calzaghe!!!
