Was Marciano's foot work any better? At least Froch did not trip over his own feet, like Rocky he did in LarSarza II and the Savold fight. I give Froch credit for that. Marciano is great at cutting the ring off, but footwork is other matter. And I consider the Rock a ATG. Not saying Froch will be one also, but you never know.

As said before styles make fights.

credit for not falling over his feet

but Froch was a decorated amatuer and IMO i apprecaite technical boxing and think Technique beats natural abilities

also the fight game is getting more and more technical these days you need to have decent skills

    Not sure on that imo.

There have been MANY cases were natural abilities over came technique.

Gans Nelson II and III, Marciano Walcott I and II. Lamotta Robinson II, Ali Fraizer I.

Yeah the boxer wins also, but it can goe both ways base on skill and talent, and the fates.

I thought Froch stunk the joint out for the first 5 rounds which I gave to Taylor.going into the last round he needed a ko to win imo ,and Taylor faded.Froch has the defence of a man with no arms ,**** footwork and throws sloppy shots he uppercuts from outside of range, someone is going to make him pay for that with a fast left hook.Froch is reachable with just about every punch, especially rights over the top, he has allways carried his hands below his waist level and at 31 will not change now.I dont rate him, or his corner Mcracken never impressed me as fighter or a teacher. I see a very short reign for Froch ,especially if he meets Kessler. The guy was talking about jet lag, for f***s sake, he has been out there for 3 weeks!A very narrow escape.

Sorry, I stand corrected, how could I forget the Brawl in City Hall when Johnny and Carlos Deleon let it all go in their epic title match?;)

Nelson, when motivated, could be very effective even on the front foot, but it was at most interesting.

The one fight that could of gone down as exciting was the Thompson bout, but the ref put a stop to that.

That kind of proves my point, a motivated Nelson was effective, but he was never in an exiciting or entertaining fight.

Sure he could look good flattening a Lou Gent or beating an ancient, ancient Andries, but whenever he was in a fight in which he perceived a threat, he went into a defensive mode, and put everyone to sleep.

Agreed, i wanted him to finish as well.

I agree when he was hurt no clinching at all.
He needed to put his punces together more.
And he has not much stamina.

I just do not know why he has these stamina problems, he looked loose coming in their so i thought that he should have goos stamina.
But thats the major problem imo.

Agreed, i thought he was just going to sit there.

everybody knows frochs best punch is with his right hand.
he went from throwing it after his jab and looking world class ,to throwing it and switching to southpaw at the same time and looked terrible.

having his hands down at his sides is OK wnen his opponent is slower, but taylor isn't and everytime(apart from the 12th) he picked his hands up to throw a punch, taylor either countered or moved out of the way.

that said, taylor never looked confident in his corner !!

I wouldn't say he was technically good but I do think he's got the tools to be a lot better. On top of that he's a hard man and a competitor. I thought McCracken did a good in his corner but you've got to ask what they're doing with him in the gym.

Its great to have intangibles like Froch has, but that doesn't excuse discarding everything else. I have followed Froch semi-closely for a while and am sure he is regressing tremendously as a fighter, technically. Carl was an exceptional amateur with good boxing skills, and now people who are just viewing him for the first time think he's some sort of Mayorga type fighter, which says a lot.

It seems like he might also be a victim of fighting a lot of stiffs in his prime; that low hands style is now firmly engrained in his neurology and muscle memory and it might be too late to do anything about it at 31.

I think your probably right. He's not gonna get away with it at the top level. Wonder how he'd get on against a past it Roy Jones.

He would beat Jones by KO. Jones is shot.
