Jermaine Taylor has a hard fight in front of him. If J.T has learned to be patient-meaning that he won't waste all of his hard punches, fight flat footed and resting using defense, he can use his jab and right hand all night on Froch. If J.T has has learned to fight on the inside using defense, and then body punching, he has a good chance to win. Froch is a tough guy, but a guy who is easy to hit. I was not impressed with Froch until I saw his fight with Pascal. Froch can truly fight. He has a crazy style. He couldn't beat Calzaghe though lol, but he can fight. Froch is slow, leaves himself open, and his footwork is sloppy at times...but he is a tough fighter. Froch has good power, a heck of an uppercut, and is relentless when he wants to be. He is a legit smw, and it will take smw punches to stop Froch, and I don't think Taylor has that power. This fight rests on J.T's patience. If he runs out trying to ko Froch, fight over. If J.T fights patiently, he can win. This is a hard fight to pick. I'm shakily picking J.T by decision. Somehow I don't see this fight going to a decision though lol. Froch beating/stopping J.T will not be close to being a shock. I wish Penalosa were younger. Lopez should try to unify if he beats Penalosa. Lopez's right hook is as good as it gets in boxing, but he relies on it too much. If Penalosa can somehow get the young fighter into deep water, and use his pure boxing skills and body shots, he has a great chance for an upset. I'm picking Penalosa because I ride with my favorites until their career is over, and Penalosa is one of my favorites personally. Cagey, cool under fire...but he may be too old for Lopez. Penalosa tko in 10...I'm hoping.
I underlined them in the thread starter. J.T by decision...very shaky pick, and Penalosa tko in 10. I was very tempted to pick Froch though.
I'd love to see Froch win but I've got a feeling this fight has came too soon since the war with Pascal. I know that was six months ago but I'm not convinced those injuries have healed. If Froch does win I don't think we'll see him back out until December. JuanMa will take out GP inside 6.
If Lopez dominates the experienced Penalosa, he will have taken his first step to proving to me that he is the goods.
Even in the other forums, Ive made these picks a while ago. Taylor UD Lopez TKO8 with the ref stopping the fight or the corner throwing in the towel for Penalosa.
I think Taylor may get a little frustrated in the latter rounds due to the lack of effect any of his punches will have on Froch. That's when he could get caught by one of Froch's wide ones. Froch KO 8/9 Lopez TKO6
I think that Taylor will KO Froch....the englishman comes in way too open and Taylor will capitalize on that with nice 1-2s Lopez should beat Penalosa on the cards....but I wouldnt bet on this....Penalosa has mad skills and is a smart technician, he is like marquez almost, but smaller and not as powerfull. Lopez is too quick though and should take the decision.
Many of you guys are wrestling with the Taylor-Froch fight as I am lol. This is a very good fight. I would've been more harsh on Froch's chances, but when you beat a good, skilled guy like Pascal...and that fight was very close with Froch leaning in at the end of the finish breaking the tape, you are legit in my book. Still, J.T showed me something in the lacy fight. He showed patience. Maybe he has finally learned. Froch has to attack like Pav did, and he will. This is a very tough fight for J.T.
I got Taylor be Wide Decision, something like 118-110 or 117-111. I've got JuanMa by TKO in the 11th round. I think Penelosa will go down ocne or twice towards the end but will finish the fight on his feet, Roach or the Referee saving him from his own bravery.
