I have been thinking the exact same thing his style presents challenges to Wards. He has a speed oriented, athletic, points style. Ward wont be overwhelming some stiff here. Ward isnt a brutal KO puncher either. Im interested in seeing this one,
sorry, ward is the new jermaine. lets say jermaine miraculously wins, then what? he'd have to face froch or even abraham again! hell no, i don't even like his chances vs. kessler. froch was a fight he should of won as well his fights with pavlik. let it go he's done.
If Jermain beats Ward. Very good possibility as indicated in my previous posts. His confidence regained, he could beat Froch and the rest of the field. It's not as though he wasn't very competitive in all his losses.
Taylor definitely doesn't have Kessler's beard, and Ward did have him rocked at times. (He probably doesn't have Kessler's defence either - even that faded version of Kessler.) I'm not saying Ward is godzilla, but he is quite simply a better boxer than Taylor, and he'll probably give the guy a pretty consistent pounding.
Taylor should retire. If he fights Ward he will be in the hospital for a couple of weeks, not a couple of days. He will get beaten all over his body. Sad.
He is good enough from a skill standpoint. He just needs to develop more stamina (he can train for this) and confidence. A win over Ward will skyrocket his confidence. Bottom line: The Ward fight is winnable for Taylor. Anyone who thinks Ward will win easily is underestimating Jermain.
.... but he isn't. He isn't as fast as Ward; he isn't as crafty; he doesn't have the same punch arsenal; he isn't as good defensively; he doesn't have the same counter-punching ability; he's abominably washed-up, etc. I could go on.
Ward has had one good performance against a flat Kessler. Although he looked great, he did not even dominate a shot Miranda in his previous major fight. Let's not write of Taylor just yet. I think he will surprise us all.
