Taylor will probably have a tune-up to test the waters against a career 168 lber before jumping in with Mikkel Kessler. Plus, he needs a good win to give heat to his claim for a big fight at this weight.
Kessler's offense and overall skills are good but his defense is average. Taylor is definitely gonna land punches and win rounds, you are seriously underestimating Taylor's skills and experience.
I give props to both guys for taking a fight like this coming off of tough losses in their last matchups, but I think Kessler is the clear favorite to win.
Nice. Brutal mismatch, Kessler 120-108 or mid-late stoppage without a doubt, but it's a good name to get American audiences to recognize him as legit and set him up for the massive paydays he deserves (maybe even a Joe rematch, although I don't want to see him lose again). A destruction of Pavlik or Bute would be ideal.
Well, if folks like you don't want to see it, it's certainly not gonna happen. So, provided Kessler and Calzaghe gets two more wins each, do you want to see a rematch or not? Just curious. Taylor-Kessler: Great match-up. Guess this will be the most serious test of Kesslers chin. I think it is understood that both fighters are likely to have a tune-up match, that is, Taylor is not going to have 3 losses in a row.
I agree with what you stated but one of the main ingredients Pavlik had for beating Taylor was solid constant pressure which is something Kessler does but not well. Taylor is a live dog in this fight and will def win rds if it went the distance, you can bet your life on that. Kessler wouldnt pull the trigger enough to not let Taylor get a look at him.
This is false, because Taylor is an easy as hell target with hardly any defence. Mundine and Joe are both tricky to hit, not Taylor and especially not Pavlik.
I meant that half-jokingly. Obviously I'd love to see them fight again; as a Kessler fan I would rather he squeeze in a few big wins between what would most likely be his first and second loss :yep (though you never know...there is that small amount of uncertainty which lends the fight its excitement and is why they bother to fight 'em). Regardless, Taylor would be (in actuality if not in value as a big name among HBO audiences) but a minor obstacle on a journey toward bigger things for Kessler. He is certainly not the Holy Grail - that is, as it stands right now, a rematch with Joe (bleak and uphill battle though it might be for the #2 in that weight range)
You know full well there are perfectly legitimate reasons behind what may seem to you to be irrationally overblown hatred. :yep Or are we going to go with the deluded "He's a GREAT fighter, who happens to have had a couple of off-nights...okay, well, several in a row...and never dominated an elite fighter...but still, he's GREAT"? He didn't look as shitty in the second Pavlik fight as he has for his couple years of TV icon stature, but one halfway decent night doesn't erase a bunch of, err, "off" ones.
