Taylor: "Match Froch's Skillset With Mine, And I Don't See How He Can Win"

p.s. I say for better or for worse becaus its very likely we could end up with another Jermain Taylor bad decision based on there styles. Froch likes to stay out of range and counter his opponent. Jermain Taylor likes to flury with more speed and less power. So I can see this fight looking a lot like the hopkins fights where in some peoples minds Taylor's activity wins him the rounds where as in other people's minds Frochs cleaner harder punches win him the rounds.

 

Jermaine Jackson has the tools to pull it off but will he ?

 

I just watched Froch KO a couple cab drivers on you tube, and Taylor is right; his skills are far superior to Froch.

 

Taylor doesn't use his skills like he should.

 

Froch won a bronze at the world amatuer championships. He'll be ready for Jermain's skills. I hope Jermaine will be ready to go 12 hard ones.

 

That's not true. He did against Pavlik 2 and he definitely did against Lacy. Those are his two latest fights. Ozell Adams seems to have found the right buttons to push to make JT apply what he's learned in actual fights. If that version of JT shows up he will embarrass Froch.

 

That's what most fighters say before fights. If you expected him to say the complete opposite then you must have issues.

 

When you matched Taylors skill set with Pavliks there was no way Pavlik could win. Problem was that Pavlik sets a high pace, never stops coming forwards and hits hard.

Taylor is the better boxer than Pavlik but not the better fighter. He is the better boxer than Froch too, but Froch has a rock solid chin and a big punch, I expect Taylor to be ahead on the cards until eventually he ends up unable to keep a gap and stands in range for too long and gets drawn into a fight.

When he does he's getting knocked out.

There's no doubt about the skill-set bit, but I'm still concerned about his motivation. He always comes out with this "I'm really up for it; I've trained harder than ever" act, and I'm just hoping it's true this time.

 

What's that s'posed to mean?

 

He is arguably a more skilled fighter than Pavlik but got brutalised by him and lost a clear decision. Meaning theres more to a fight than skills alone.

 

Taylor UD. He's way too fast and too good for Froch.

 

As rugged a fight as Froch/Pascal was, I kind of thought it was Carl going to the jab in the middle rounds that made the difference. As for this fight, I'm just not sure who to go with. I don't particularly care for the way Froch fights with his arm down by his waist and as good as Taylor is, he's always had this somewhat amateur style about him. Maybe it's his flat-footed stance or something. He just seems like he's sitting there with a very restricted range. It's hard for me to explain. If I have to go on talent I pick Taylor but make no mistake, Froch can fight.

 

True enough, Taylor would win every category except power if we talk about skillsets. Even the areas where Taylor is questionable, defence and stamina, Froch is literally three times as bad.

He needs to put it together mentally too, then he will win.
