Well, before Lacy was taught a lesson by Calzaghe, Lacy's reputation based on his performances against decent opposition was much higher than Froch's current reputation based on his performances against journeymen. If you consider that Lacy is American and known there, whereas Froch is an unknown foreigner who hasn't fought anyone, and when you consider that the American networks are pushing for a Taylor v. Lacy fight, it's easy to see why Taylor might prefer Lacy. The risk/reward ratios for a win over Lacy or a loss to Lacy compared to those concerning Froch are also better, so:

Money + better risk/reward + US network support + more fan interest Stateside + more recognition in the US for a win > a win over a hard-chinned, iron fisted prospect + paper WBC strap, especially for Taylor, who doesn't need a belt to help him earn more or get involved in the biggest fights around.

Is that you Carl Froch? I live in Nottingham also. You going to watch the MMA at the Harvey Haden Centre?

Wouldn't a Lacy fight be worth more money with the WBC title? That is if Taylor/Dibella are confident they'd win against Froch.

I wouldn't count Lacy out. He said before the Manfredo fight he was lifting too heavy of weights and made his muscles too tight and that he needed about 6 months to readjust his body. Maybe there's something to that, but shoulder surgeries are practically career killers. Vernon never was the same after his two surgeries.

Taylor has admitted before (post-fight interview following the Spinks shambles I think) that he is just in it for the money.

Taylor has no love for boxing (he doesn't follow the sport; isn't a fan), so if the Lacy fight earns him more $$$ then he will probably go that route.

However, if he is thinking long term cash reward then it would be better for him if he went for the belt against Froch, because a win there could set up some realy big paydays.

You must be talking about a different Mr Taylor.

The one I know was asked what was his favourite fight; he answered: "I don't know, I don't watch other fights" (I presume he meant other than his own bouts). Doesn't sound like he eats, shits or ****s boxing at all.

If you want the source I can get it for you by 2moro (Sorry, I ain't in my own house 2nite - I **** you not); it was a short interview on the back of the "Boxing News" magazine published over here (its reliable).

don't know if you are watching hockey, (i'm sure you dont lol)but guys like Vincent Lecavalier, or Carey Price, don,t watch the game playoffs..but they eat hockey and they **** it too..
some people don,t like to watch their sport..that's it..

Let's hear it= If taylor fights Lacy, he'll be accused of ducking Froch. If he fights froch, he'll be accused of ducking Lacy...So why not let Froch fight Lacy, then they both can be accused of ducking Tayor :rofl:rofl:rofl

Froch is better than Lacy at this juncture in time and if Taylor doesn't fight him then he is a ducker imo.

I truely believe Froch will knock him out, so if Taylor doesn't fight him then he probably feels the same, as even tho the Lacy fight might earn more now, having the WBC belt means big paydays there after. Be a shame if this fight doesn't come to fruition as it would be a great match-up.

Who here is really gonna accuse Taylor of ducking Lacy???? No one, he should fight Froch as the WBC have said. Lacy has had his time and had chances since the JC fight to shine and he hasn't done much (i know he was injured). But Froch has done enough to deserve his title shot.

Taylor should fight Froch full stop.

Which basically means that Taylor isn't a fan of the sport:deal

Jermain Taylor would thus be termed an athlete. He trains like a ****er, but it isn't out of love for the game that he does it or to gain immortality in the sport. Its a means to an end, and the goal is money. Therefore he will go for the bout that makes the most monetary sense, be it in the short term or the long term.

When a pundit says "this guy just doesn't have that hunger anymore". Well, it will mean a whole different thing to Jermain Taylor than it does for most other boxers. For Jermain Taylor Hunger = hunger for money.

There are a lot of boxers today who have the monetary factor high up in their career agenda, but there aren't that many that have it as high as Jermain does, or who blatantly parade it as much as he does. We, the fans, pay this guys wages, and it shows a total lack of respect when he freely admits that he is just in it for the money. Some may think that way, it would be naive to say they don't, but Taylor publicises it to an obscene level. **** him.
