Could this be the fight that elevates boxing back to a new level?
I think this is a real great matchup. You have Taylor who was whipping ass coming up and twice beat a long time great middleweight champion against Pavlik a guy who is whipping ass as a contender and is avoided by many contenders.
Taylor hasn't looked good in some of his defenses but is still winning (although some fights were debatable). Still I think a guy like Pavlik will bring out the best in Taylor. I think this one could go either way. I am thinking it is a 51-49 fight for Pavlik. I think it will be a great fight either way it goes with lots of action. I look for this fight to wow the crowd.

This fight reminds me of Holmes-Cooney in some ways. Not just the "white hope" thing--Taylor's lackluster title reign and Pavlik as the powerpunching "savior" of the division are also strong parallels.

Yes, I think this will produce an upsurge in boxing's popularity.

I am looking forward to this fight much more than the PBF/De La Hoya fight and i'm sure it will be much better - a possible classic

Can't wait. Pavlik is going to show why Taylor has been facing all these blown up fighters coming up from the lower weight classes and why he has to get gift decisions to "win" fights!

It will be nice to have a champ who wins clearly and emphatically.

    Pavlik KO 5

That's actually very true. We'll have to wait and see if it produces a classic fight also.

As poor as Taylor has looked recently i think he will win this, Whatever you think of the Hopkins fights the fact is they were both really close and could have gone either way for Taylor to push Hops that close and How good Hopkins has looked against Tarver and Winky suggests Taylor is the more polished fighter.

It will for sure not elevate boxing to a new level. It will be a competitive fight - but a fight amongst others.

i see Cotto-Mosley or Calzaghe-Kessler as much more significant. PBF-Hatton is also up there, especially because of the attention caused by nationalities.

Pavlik may win by Ko or Tayor takes it by UD. Im going for Taylor UD.

It is going to be exciting for as long as it last . . . one of these guys will go down to the canvass. I just hope not too early in the fight. I want to see some real BANG ACTION here for at least 8 rounds. :D :yep

Pavliks an uncoordinated, overhyped marshmellow. This will be taylors most definitive KO.

This is a great fight in the making. I definitely think that Taylors experience will keep him champion. Taylor by ko.

And yes, this fight is bigger than PBF/Oscar ll, PBF/Hatton, Mosley/Cotto and Kessler/Calzaghe. Because this is against two prime guys, both undefeated, both hard hitting, both young, both hungry, and both in a historic division. This fight is huge.
