Plus Taylor/Serrano has sold more ticket (almost sold out) than Stevenson/Valdez by far. The TV coverage & the atmosphere here in NY( I live here) is crazy.

Only hardcore boxing male fans are excited for a fight where the outcome is 99.9 % certainly to be a whitewash for Shakur. I've see n NO MAINSTREAM TV coverage for Shakur/Oscar but I have for Katie/Amanda.

The casuals are going to make the female fight an even bigger success than the male fight. Boxing is alive & well.

There's a 24/7 top rank equivalent for Stevenson/Valdez on youtube with about 500k views which is pretty good. Bop is surely good at promoting, but he often has matchups between elite talent go undersold. The fact that Hearn is able to create more buzz than him is no surprise. This is meant to be Stevenson's entrance to big time boxing, not his first mega showcase. He's gotta win before they turn the tap fully on I guess. There will be good atmosphere on the night for this one.

The Hearn effect. Plus besides the Taylor Serrano fight the whole card is pretty good, couldn't tell you one fight on the Valdez undercard

It's odd that this went from a Povetkin-Whyte I undercard fight to a huge event in its own right (or so we keep being told) — it's not as if either Serrano or Taylor has done anything much to boost their respective profiles in the intervening couple years, unless we count Serrano becoming Jake Paul's pet project. Odder still that there doesn't seem to be much excited chatter about this huge event. Assuming we take at face value all the talk about what a buzz the fight is generating in NYC, it's still nobody outside of the Irish and Puerto Rican communities who gives a damn (and, let's face it, both are hurting for things to cheer for in boxing). I dunno about anyone else, but I strongly suspect the 'second biggest ever pre-presales for MSG' jazz to be part of a bull**** hype campaign.

    Hmm...

Everybody involved with Taylor / Serrano keep saying its the greatest thing since sliced bread. In reality there's not much buzz about it at all.

Tickets start at $30 and it looks like there's 1000's of seats available. If media and promoters were telling the truth it would have sold out instantly :nusenuse:

It says doors at 4:30 so early ring walk it seems for the Euro fans. Maybe they shroud have just had the fight in the UK

I hate the way the term casuals is thrown out on here as a sleight on peoples knowledge. We can all have an opinion here despite not being experts

Not true. I'm in NYC. The buzz is crazy especially compared to Stevenson v Valdez

But the women ticket sales are better than Stevenson vs Valdez. These women sold over 14,000 thus far in the main room at MSG...Shakur/Valdez has done nowhere near that & they are at the MGM Grand.

It's not meant as a disrespect...it just describes someone who will watch boxing but is not a hardcore fan.

Like I'll watch UFC & WWE but I'm not a hardcore fan, I just watch for the major matches but not every PPV. I'm consider a casual for those respective genres.

In Vegas Stevenson v Valdez has was more buzz than Taylor Serrano so thats a moot point. Plus Stevenson v Valdez isn't being billed as a historic game changing super-duper mega event.
The fight hasn't really taken off outside boxing circles

But it is thrown about on here as an insult.I consider myself as quite knowledgeable but by no means an expert.Does that make me a casual? Just seems silly to me to demean any one with an interest in boxing

Is it, though? Where is this casual buzz to be witnessed? Is it confined to the PR/Irish communities in NYC?

Media might be pushing this fight harder than Stevenson-Valdez (for reasons), but I don't see any great public response.

The locals think the women will be boxing naked, that's why they are excited.

(Take it easy...I'm Bronx born and raised. Sure, I'd like to see them fight naked as well).
