Even if he didn't have a hemorrhage he should hang them up. Concussions are really, really bad for the brain and make you more succeptible to them in the future.
It really makes you wonder why Hopkins couldn't beat Taylor convincingly in 2 tries. Also may shed some light on why Hopkins skipped over super middle to fight the washed up Taylor and then make Winky and Pavlik pack on bad weight to come meet him up there.
if it was the same Taylor that fought Froch he woulda gassed in the 12th worse he did look good, but it was more or less the same JT ... notice how his strong jab almost vanished going into the last 1/2 of the fight SSDF same ****, different fight
Problem was, he did prepare better and over all looked better at the end, but it still wasn't enough - he was behind on the cards and go KTFO. Doing the Ward fight for the payday isn't fair to the other fighters (it gifts Ward a win) and dropping out before the 3rd fight leaves the tourney in a real bind - their replacement would have no real chance to advance (though if Kessler still has his belt, it'd be a title shot, at least). They guy has made some good money. If the dr report comes back badly (likely), he should hang'em up.
Taylor is a class act, I like the way he handled himself in the interview after the fight. The odds are that he will not fare well in this tournament against the new, better breed, but he's got nothing to be ashamed of, he's had a great career and made lots of $$ for his family. ...although I can see him beating Froch and Dirrell in this tournemant.
I am astonished that we have people on ESB who think Taylor should continue. I'm even more astonished that we have people claiming Taylor looked good last night. By the time they got into the 3rd round it was obvious that the JT of old no longer exists. If anyone wants to debate over whether or not Jermain is a shot fighter, please answer the following questions. 1; Why did #43 ranked LuJaun Simon win about the same number of rounds that JT won? 2; How come guys like Shannon Taylor, Jantuah, and Simon could make the distance with AA, but Jermain could not. 3; How come feather fisted LuJaun Simon's jab had more effect on AA than Jermain's jab? 4; Where was JT's trade mark counter punching? 5; Where was that fast-accurate right hand? Arthur was wide open for that all night, but never once did JT step over and throw it. Why not? 6; Where was that lightning fast left hook? That's another punch AA was open to all night, but Jermain never did step over and throw it. Why not. 7; Why did Jermain's feet look like he was stuck in the mud? 8; Later in the fight why didn't Jermain attack when Abraham was mouth breathing, and backing up with his hands down? Jermain needs to walk away from the Sauerland Six. I will not watch him get turned into the next Bobby Chacon.
ah a far cry from the "Abraham the weakest" in the tourney but agreed, JT's ability as a fighter is certainly there however his shortcomings and flaws get exploited to the fullest. besides stamina, JT doesn't fight intelligently poster above, it doesn't matter if you think Jermain can beat Froch or Dirrell he's not fighting either one of them, and probably won't get a chance to next up for Taylor is vs Andre Ward and then Kessler after that however I'd prefer Allan Green to step in, instead.
Dude who started thread. Taylor ca not pull the trigger anymore. It is simple as that. If he doesn't need the money he should retire. If he needs the money. Fight on as your guaranteed 2 more fights.
He really didn't loook all that good to tell you the truth and IMO he looked better against Froch so I don't know what the **** you're talking about. Now combine his deteriorating abilities with the fact that he's been brutally KOed in 3 out of his last 5 fights, and add in the several beatings he's taken over the last few years even in fights that he didn't lose, and I think it's very approriate to suggest the man should retire. He's made great money, held a world middleweight championship, and admittedly isn't a fan of the sport.... so I ask you, why go on?
