Fans like you are what make boxing crap. Who cares? A loss does not mean the end of the world. Fans need to realize this.

It does mean the end if you were Ko'ed twice and many still don't believe you won the fight that got you the title in the 1st place.

See, i don't buy into that excuse that he "punched himself out". He did what he had to do to try to get him out and he couldn't. That is a credit to Pavlik and his ability to take those punches and stay upright. Any fighter would do what Taylor did and that is try to finish the guy. But he couldn't do it. And he paid for it by expanding a lot of energy.

Taylor said that he expanded too much energy as some stupid excuse. Well, you only did what you were supposed to do but failed.

Its fans with this type of thinking that makes fighters afraid to fight the best. If fans wont watch a fighter with 2 L's on his record then why even risk it. Its the reason why fighters dont fight the best nowadays. I would tell Jermain Taylor to go for broke. If he losses again, then go back to the drawing board and start over.

isnt expanding a lot of energy to get some1 out of there, the same thing as punching yourself out?:huh

  7. :good EXCELLENT POST! too many people place to much recognition on a loss! every fighter is gonna lose sooner or later, if a fighter goes out on his shield that's what counts!
Besides fighter's are allowed to have off night's too just like Barry Bonds, or Peyton Manning have had..:deal

Yes, but what i'm saying is that Taylor is using this as some excuse. I mean he did what he was supposed to do by trying to take the guy out but after the fight, he claimed he tired himself out. Well, duh? Did we expect you to not try to finish him off and save your energy? So why even mention that as an excuse?

According to many fans, he should have several losses on his record. he is to be commended for taking the rematch, but the man is quite simply not a top flight fighter. A point that will be made emphatically when this rematch takes place.

but the shots he threw werent landing, i think is why he said that. And we have seen fighters when they have some1 hurt use there smarts and take there time and KO them as oppose to throwing wild punches that dont land. I see wat ur saying, but wat he said is the truth, if he woulda came up the middle with some of his punches, he woulda took pavlik out

So whose fault is that? It's Taylor's fault for not being able to land a lot of clean shots. So because he was inaccurate, he's using that as an excuse of "tiring himself out"? Please. There is no excuse. He had him hurt and couldn't get him out.

If I was Taylor I would focus on my game and go and fight some other names then see Taylor & Pavlik again in 2-3 years.

Immediate rematches never did well for some people, Jonesy Jr.

I am never a fan of going back into a rematch immediately after getting KO'd. It's stupid. Unless it's a lucky punch, you should take a tune up fight or two to fix what you did wrong & get accustomed to your new style. Rematching after a loss is tantamount to trial by fire. You gamble on a new gameplan w/o ever trying it out or seeing if it's something that you can do at all.

I totally disagree. He was undefeated and on the roll, beating Hopkins twice and drawing with Winky, wins over smaller but big names in Spinks and Ouma and all of a sudden he gets beat by Kelly Pavlik, thats a huge setback, if he was now to leave middleweight and go to supermiddle he would need a lot of time to prove that he is the best supper middleweight in the world, whereas if he fights Pavlik again, he can prove that he is the best middleweight in just 1 fight and be back at the very top, no other fight can get him to the very top. He could beat Calzaghe/Kessler winner and still there would be Kelly Pavlik who is better than him, so the only way to get to the very top is to fight Pavlik, if he loses again it wont be a career ending loss just like Shane getting beat by Vernon wasnt career ending for him.

Indeed he does. And that's a thoroughfare he's gonna be visiting quite a bit earlier than the first time around, too. :nod

HBO will be hoping and praying he can remain vertical, but their poster-boy's gettin' starched again!!!! :yep :happy
