Not just him but also @james5000 who labelled Taylor a “club fighter” which was a bizarre observation given his performances against Postol and Baranchyk in particular.
He's a troll. Was bigging Eubank up the same level if not more than Aydamn does Whyte. I wouldn't be surprised if they are related
I detest the BBC and don’t really care about the organisation but their coverage is awful. No report about Taylor’s win on the front page of their website and not even the main headline on their sports page.
Len will be back here once he has time to digest those scorecards and swallow the fact that Taylor looks capable of going on to become one of the UK's elite legendary fighters.
Just back at my hotel now. What a fight that was. One of the best sporting events I’ve attended. Had it 7-5 to Taylor.
Well, I’ve managed to catch up with the fights. Conor Benn was entertaining as usual swinging for the trees against a fighter who couldn’t knock a jenga tower down. Okolie was dreadful to watch as always with his Mr Tickle arms. Great shot to end the fight though. I leaned towards Ricky Burns to be honest. Thought he rocked Selby in the 11th. It was a decent fight to be fair although I see no real future for Selby at lightweight. I felt cheesed off as soon as i saw big Pricey gasping for air in the 2nd round. We knew he wasn’t going to be 12 round ready but he barely had 3 rounds in him. Chisora was brilliant, chopping to the body and winging that big overhand right in. Can’t help but like the lad. The main fight was just absolutely brilliant. I edged towards Taylor by a round although I would have had no problem with a draw or even a win by a round to Prograis. It swung back and forth throughout, with Taylor really showing his strength, grit and will to win. Credit to both lads.
To be Fair England beating the All Blacks in the semis is huge, they are the most dominant team in world sport. Taylor should be near the top of the page though.
What a fight! Top top quality boxing from both men. Very close, did feel like Taylor edged it, but wouldn't have argued with a draw. Already looking forward to re-watching it. It was the kind of fight where there were no losers. Stunning performance from both. Superb fight. Love it when a big fight lives up to expectations. Same with Beterbiev-Gvozdyk last week. Had a few technical issues and missed most of Chisora Price, I saw the finish though, no shocks there. I abandoned my scoring midway through Burns vs Selby after a few rounds where I couldn't split them, but my gut feeling at the end of the fight was that Burns had won it. Okolie effective but awful to watch for the most part. Good finish though. Connor Benn showing signs of improvement perhaps.
I hope Josh Taylor gets the recognition he deserves in Scotland. Here we have a sportsman right at the very top of his profession, and he's still not that well known here outside of boxing fans or sports fans in general IMO. I'm surprised at the lack of fanfare he gets in this country if I'm honest. Cue @lencoreastside coming on to tell me it's cos he's just so so nasty.
Watched the fights last nights, heres my thoughts - Benn does he usual Benn stuff against limited opposition, yes he looked impressive but was meant to against that guy. I know they say he is learning on the job to make up for lack of amateur background but what exactly is he learning against that opposition ? They should put him in with a guy that will test different parts of his game rather than just a punch bag and if he losses its really not a huge deal its a learning experience. Okolie vs Ngabu, Okolie is the boxing equivalent of a world class long ball football team. Yes his style is effective thats clear to see but is it entertaining ? honestly no. I remember the grabbing stuff early in his career and thought well his just turned over that will soon go but it seems he has embraced it and the whole time refs don't penalise him he will carry on. I have no doubts he will win a world title especially now Usyk has moved up but if Okolie moves up to HW that style wont be as effective as he wont be the bigger man. Burns vs Selby, i had Selby winning fairly comfortable to be honest. Im a huge Burns fan and some of the nights as the Hydro were amazing but time for him to call it a day, maybe of he can get on the undercard of a taylor fight in Scotland one last goodbye fight to send him out with a W would be fitting. As for Selby he looked classy but was troubled at times and cant see a future for him at LW with the wealth of talent at the top top level. Lets be honest Campbell who is just below champion level would probably deal with Selby fairly easily. Selby should drop to SF. Maybe Selby vs Quigg would be a good fight to gauge where they are. Chisora vs Price, basically at this stage of his career Chisora is in the best shape of his career and was clear early on Price wasnt doing 12 rounds after coming in late. Chisora didnt need to mix up his game plan as he (and everyone else) knew Prices vulnerabilities. As for Price its up to him but truly hope he calls it a day, i think we are not just seeing his vulnerabilities as a fighter but his decline in skills to. One thing that could always be said for Price, regardless of vulnerabilities, was he always looked dangerous because of his power last night he just didnt even look dangerous, and apart from counter upper cut that Chisora quickly recovered from there was nothing to suggest Price was a danger to Chisora. Prograis vs Taylor, quite simply one of the fights of the year, possibly one of the best world title fights ever in the UK. The style meshed perfectly and i had Taylor just edging it but could easily have gone other way. Massive respect for Taylor as I had him down going in to second half of fight and he turned it around when others may have taken accepted they were going to lose. I would love to see them do it again.
I think you need to give it time. This morning Taylor is the second top story on the sports section and is on the front page of the site.
