In fairness jurgen there was a feck up with that.he made weight then jumped off took a drink of water and was then asked to weigh in again as the scales were wonky..so was obviously going to be over.

OK I was at the weigh-in and pissed off when it became apparent the fight was on and he was to hit the scales later.

True -- Taylor has the edge over the distance

    What?
My comment above was meant to say he has the edge in experience in going the distance

I’ve gone from thinking this was a 50/50 to leaning towards Prograis to win by KO. Taylor gets hit a lot, and this kid can bang and he looks very sturdy and strong.
    Good fight.

Both get marked up quite badly in some of their fights and they both seem pretty tough. I'm still saying Taylor but it will be close, very close.

Yeah can't wait for this one. You know what they say a good yank beats a good brit :eusa_whistle:That's why i'm picking Prograis cause he's a yank lol but if anyone can beat a yank it's Taylor cause he is good himself.

Lets be honest lots of people picking Prograis are doing so cause he's a yank, don't get me wrong he's a good fighter just like Taylor is ,but how many times have you tuned in to see a brit get schooled by a yank? lots and lots no escaping it :monoloco:

Calzaghe v Lacy, Fury v Wilder and Brook v Porter show that nationality has nothing to do with boxthing outcomes.

That has to be it. And the ones picking Taylor are all delusional Brits, just picking their countryman out of nationalistic pride!

    Read the posts FFS.

Most people on here are edging towards the yank but give the Jock a decent chance of winning as he is a VERY GOOD BOXER.

What we don't know yet is whether he is another great like Joe Calzaghe or Lennox Lewis or simply a Kell Brook or Ricky Burns type non elite World Champion.

I am English and hope he wins on Saturday.

I think he’s getting beat on Saturday bud, but, I think it could be a similar thing to when Ward beat Froch. Not in the style of the defeat but how he still went on to have a brilliant career. There’d be absolutely no shame to be edged out on the night for either fighter though. They’re both going to have more big nights after this.

Maybe, but to be fair. Taylor has had hard fights with two legit top 5-7 140's. He is now viewed as easy to hit, there for the taking & Progrias will expose the holes. Regis had an 8 round battle with Velasco with his face a mess, the very same Velasco then stopped by Mario Barrios in 2 rounds . If that's Taylor vs Velasco over 8 rounds, this would not be seen as a 50-50 fight, it would be considered a one side beat down in Prograis favour.

Taylor beat Martin easy, Martin froze and didn't show up. Prograis beat Turbo easy, boxing lesson.

Taylor might get sparked here, Regis might be a P4P level fighter. But as someone who read so many expert breakdowns (on here included) of how Ohara Davies was going to School Taylor, it becomes evident that personality, PR, Promotion and Management as much dictate how a fighter is viewed, as much as performance level.

More of a general post, not directed at you specifically but my point stands and IS valid. If Josh Taylor beats Velasco the way Regis did, he's not considered the best 140 in the World. Taylor beats Postol and Baranchyk, and it's still Regis irrespective of Regis performance in that fight against Velasco.

Funny enough, Regis fought that night and walked Velasco down. He didn't box the way he did last two fights and yet there are many who feel Regis is more complete or versatile, and that coupled with added power is what makes the difference in this fight. If that was a performance to back up his ability to adjust and fight different ways, that particular fight wasn't the one to sell him as top dog to me.

Great bait and counter fighter, real slick at times and yes, he can still fight inside. But based on that showing vs Velasco, weighing up level of opposition, in my opinion Regis is more vulnerable inside or in a dogfight than Taylor but that is not the consensus.

Saturday night will tell us just how good these Two are, I can't wait.

I wonder if those who are having a go at Taylor or just have the opinion that he is gonna get battered here will then come on and proclaim Taylor to be p4p worthy if he wins?

Not a dig at anyone just wonder if they will be willing to change their opinion and if they think Prograis is elite level and will do a number on Taylor then surely if Josh wins then they have to think the same of him and consider him proper elite level?
