don't agree with that. Some like different approach. Ricky burns nice guy. Taylor ok buy has edge nasty streak in ring.
I'm far from a ned, and I like him, he's class. I went to Braehead for the Davies fight and he was like a rabid pitbull going after him, it was brilliant, the aggression and genuine spite when embarrassing that fool Davies.
He's a racist, powder loving ned. Not the sort I would want to be hanging around with. The fact he's a good boxer and quite entertaining doesn't make him any less of a scumbag.
He has learned through necessity to keep his nasty side within boxing now, everyone matures differently. And he is much much more than just a "good" boxer. He is potentially gonna be one of the best fighters ever from UK let alone scotland. His resume is already world class. Also his attitude to chasing all the big fights and looking to go after big names in the future is refreshing.
Taylor always get's into "fight mode" in the week up to the fight, where he just sees the opponent as something in his way to be swept aside. I appreciate this rubs some folks the wrong way, but it's not an act, it's all part of Taylor's way of fighting., he grew up getting into scraps all the time, and channelled that into boxing. FWIW as another Scot on this board (from Edinburgh) I've heard plenty of anecdotal evidence that Taylor is very well liked in his hometown of Prestonpans and very little anecdotal evidence to the contrary - pinch of salt I know, but as others have said, I dig the fact that Tylor is his own man, and I think this plays into his advantage come fight night - that vicious spiteful edge he can call on is a huge part of his intangibles IMO. For anyone doubting this, contrast Taylor in post-fight interviews with Ramirez, Prograis and others where all that edge etc is gone and he comes across as a down-to-earth and far more humble dude. But I for one wouldn't want to see him change his ways - it's part of what makes him as special fighter.
If anything I would say he's under appreciated. In my view for general non-boxing fans I would say at the moment he's still less well known than Ricky Burns which is surprising given he is one of the best in the world and currently at his peak or near it.
Apologies. Let me rephrase. The fact he's a very good boxer, potentially one of the best to ever come out of the UK, and quite entertaining doesn't make him any less of a scumbag. Also, let's not forget that he weights something like 10 stone. He will always be a wee ned no matter how good he is at punching other wee men in the face and body.
Off memory, a NED is a Non Educated Delinquent. Not be confused, Neds Atomic Dustbin (a episode of The Goons) were an ace band.
