So you're saying that should Cintron win Cotto wont face him. I don't remember Arum or Cotto ever saying that
GL: On the co-feature you've got Cintron and Margarito in a rematch of their first encounter when Margarito stopped Cintron. Now Cintron is the champion, Margarito's the challenger, what do you expect from Margarito, the same result? BA: Yes, I would think, again Margarito's my fighter so I would expect him to win, but Cintron is going to be a lot more dangerous going in this time, vis a vis Margarito because of he's a whole new fighter because Emannuel Stewert has put in lots of time with him. GL: If Cotto and Margarito are both victorious on April 12th, will they fight each other next? Or will Joshua Clottey fight the winner, and Cotto go in a different direction? BA: No, Cotto would fight the winner of Cintron-Margarito, if he beats Gomez. GL: So, the gameplan is if you're guys win, they are going to fight each other, that's where it's going to go? BA: Exactly. If my guys win, my guys will fight each other. GL: How come Joshua Clottey's mandatory doesn't mean as much to you now as it did when I asked you about unifying the titles with Cintron and Cotto? BA: Joshua would fight for the vacant title, because the winner of Cintron-Margarito in order to fight Cotto would have to vacate the IBF title. Otherwise it wouldn't be fair to Clottey. GL: If your guys both win, and they both fight each other it wouldn't be for a unification. It would only be for Cotto's belt, and Clottey would fight for the vacant title. BA: That's right, one sanctioning fee. Basically, Cotto-Margo is what Arum wants and if Cintron wins, he won't do Cintron-Cotto, he'll make Clottey get the title shot. But before this, he had told Cintron they wouldn't do a deal with him unless it was a Clottey fight. Arum hadn't spoken to Clottey since before his last fight. Arum was never looking out for Clottey he was just trying to set up the easiest win for Cotto. Cintron won't drop his belt either, he's been eyeing to unify with Cotto for a bit.
GTFO, this is a bigger mismatch than Hoya-Forbes! Mayo didn't have the punch or the manouverability to compete at 160 pounds against Tito and he would against taylor at 168? If Mayo takes it, he's a manwhore like Steve and he doesn't want good fights at 147 or 154. I don't buy this one, Mayo to fight Forrest or Cotto and Taylor to fight Jones right away and depending on the Hops-Cal result.
LOL. I read this interview. Arum wants the winner of Cintron/margo to vacate the IBF title so that Clottey can fight for the vacant title as Clottey already paid sanctioning fees in an eliminator. Nice try at trying to spin this into Arum/Cotto wont fight Cintron.
Considering that ARUM stated himself, when Cintron was calling Cotto to unify that they (Top Rank) would not involve themself with Cintron unless it was for a fight with Clottey. Arum hadn't spoken to Clottey since before his last fight. It was a big deal for Clottey then to get his title shot. Clottey got walked over by Arum, he never even recieved step aside money. Then all of sudden Margo-Cintron is made? I thought Cintron WOULD only fight Clottey first? Arum blatently ducked Cintron for Cott.
Well I'll give you that Clottey got shafted. Arum has been doing a lot of double talking. I don't think Cotto will duck Cintron or anyone else. I'll leave it at that.
WTF, cant blame mayorga for taking this fight... i cant believe taylor! i guess when he loses against guys his own size he goes back to former 147lbers... wtf.
Didn't Taylor say he was going straight after the big names in the SMW Division? Where the **** does Mayorga fit into this picture? Taking the fight with Jones sounded good - even the fight with Tito sounded good. Mayorga will just get beat the **** up!! This would be bull****.
