Isn't this just a great match-up? Unless Fury vs Joshua or Crawford vs Spence happens this year, both seem unlikely, I don't think there will be a better match-up than this one. I don't have a favorite in this fight, so it's pure excitement for me. What do you guys think?
Yes. Great matchup and a legacy on the line. A classic pick em' fight stylistically. Really looking forward to it. Probably Top 3 matchup of 2021 so far. Super, super excited.
Hats off to these guys shame other boxers can't take a leaf out there book.IE Fury & Crawford for a start.
Btw I need someone to educate me on Taylor as this is what I think of him: I mean think about it, Barancyhk was the closest thing you get to Ivan Drago at that weight and then Regis Prograis, some scary looking dude with an unusual name. Is there another person who's called Regis Prograis in the world? I doubt it, it's a name made up by Josh Taylor's subconscious.
In my view what Taylor does best is that he does just about everything really well - maybe not utterly exceptionally, but he has very few weaknesses. + Great footwork + Good judging of distance + Good on the back foot or front foot + Great body-work + Decent jab and pop + Very good stamina and workrate + Good boxing IQ and adaptability + Spiteful and mean puncher in the ring If Taylor has a weakness it's:- - Like's a tear-up, so can get dragged into a dogfight nullifying all his good attributes My 2C
Such a shame that none of the channels in the uk are showing this fight live on tv. I feel ashamed to be British right now
He's Scottish! To be fair, as I mentioned on another thread, he floated fairly under the radar whilst with Cyclone, but his fights generally were on Channel 5. Then of course after beating Prograis, he went with Arum and Top Rank, rather than MatchRoom - which even if it did not raise his profile, it would have at least guaranteed fights on Sky / DAZN i'd have thought. Pretty certain he went to Top Rank to guarantee the Ramirez fight (and have a road to Crawford as well) Finally, Josh hasn't really done himself any favours with some of his behaviour outside the ring - twitter spats about Covid, and being charged for abusive behaviour ain't great looks. I've always though he came across not too bad in interviews, but I've heard conflicting reports (II live in Edinburgh) as to whether he really is a decent down to earth guy (general view), or as others think a bit of a knob (anecdotal mostly based on below incident) See here for some details - bevvy is no excuse, but actually seeking the guy out face to face seems like it was a genuine apology. https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/news/5086728/josh-taylor-court-bouncer-apology-handshake/
Taylor is a hot-head and a trash talker, but overall comes across as a decent dude. You should have a bit arrogance and swagger about you if you're an elite fighter. Josh has never come across as a POS human in the mold of a BJS.
