The Taylor knockdown, he hit the canvas with 44 secs gone, and he got up with 32 secs remaining. It doesn't matter now but if the fight was not stopped might have caused a bit of controversy.

He might well have waved it off when Taylor got up, he barely made ten and was all over the shop

The ref was also quite generous with the stoppage i.e. he could've stepped in sooner

I think he JUST got it right on both scores but it was tight, had Taylor survived and won it would've been a bit of an eyebrow raiser

The count is a ref's 10 seconds not the clocks. Taylor watched the ref's count, just like Tunney and many others.

It looked to me like Taylor may have deliberately left getting up a bit late.

If the ref had counted him out (which he could have easily done), I don't think Taylor would have minded too much.

Taylor must have one of the most dejected looking faces I ever seen when he gets knocked down - it was the same against Pavlik. He looks like hes about to top himself!

He was still on his back at 8, don't think he really fancied getting up at all. But fair play he just about gathered the motivation to beat the count. Although under normal circumstances a ref will wave the fight off if a fighter jumps up at 9.

I thought the ref was giving taylor every oppotunity to make it to the final bell. He should of been stopped when he got up after the first knock down yet he let him take heavy, unanswered punches on the ropes for far too long in my opinion. Made me laugh when american tv interviewed the ref after, all most trying to say he shouldnt have stopped it with 14 seconds to go.

It felt like a long count given that the ref seemed to start counting quite soon after he was down.

Anyway, anyone who argues that fight shouldn't have been stopped a few seconds later (it could easily have been waved off at the KD) knows shite-all about boxing.

The ref does not have control over when a count starts as such, it is the time-keeper

Watching it 'live', I thought the same

I don't think Froch would have got the same chance to survive
