Perhaps Fury was not well conditioned enough in Wilder 1 to make going for a KO the wisest option (though fighting Wilder within 6 months of coming back vs Seferi was bold to the point of stupidity anyway). But you have opined that Fury took less damage with offensive tactics in Wilder 2 than he took with defensive tactics in Wilder 1 and that the Wilder 2 Fury was "prime Fury".

Moreover, Davison admitted that he was shocked at Fury's demolition of Wilder in fight 2, so he evidently wasn't the best judge of his former fighter's abilities. Fury came into the 3rd fight in poor shape but was that Hill's fault? Fury was apparently in hospital some of the time due to complications with his daughter's birth and he came in relatively out of shape, clearly in worse physical condition than in fight 2. Fury also wasn't mentally up for it to the same degree, partly because of how dominant he was in fight 2 and partly because he probably didn't want the trilogy fight anyway.

This isn't to say that Davison is a bad coach or that Fury shouldn't fire Hill but Fury's tactics in Wilder 2 were clearly correct. And there's no guarantee that Fury would have taken less damage on the backfoot in fight 3, especially if he wasn't able or willing to lose a stone from 277 lbs.

Hrs far from trash but yhe prograis fight was close and could've gone either way and worthy of a rematch. He lost to jack in my opinion and never rematched him either. With that said he will beat teo.
