Bayliss kept touching them as they were fighting. I commented on that during the fight. It was like he was trying to get in there so he could fight, too. It was weird. I never saw a guy keep touching boxers as they were throwing punches.

And I can't stand the long waits after knockdowns. If the guy goes down and gets up, count to eight, and restart the fight or waive it off. Quit asking questions and talking to them and asking them to walk around. It's a standing eight. EIGHT. Not 12, not 15, not 20.

After eight ... the guy can either go or not.

If you aren't sure, then he can go. If you're sure he can't, stop it.

You don't count to eight and then spend another 10 seconds trying to figure out if he can go or not.

    It drives me nuts.

    Totally legal.

Same type of knockdown occurred in Michael Spinks vs. Vonzell Johnson.

Sports Illustrated: "Justice was as swift as Spinks's right hand. With less than a minute gone in the seventh round, the two boxers were fighting in close when Referee Larry Hazzard stuck a hand between them. Although it appeared the fighters were in a clinch, they weren't. Hazzard said to them, "Punch out." That is, no need to break; merely fight your way out of the close quarters. Spinks stood his ground. Johnson stepped back and dropped his arms, his chin like a lantern in a storm. Spinks hit Johnson with a left uppercut to the body and followed that with a whistling overhand right to the chops—which he calls the Spinks Jinx.

"I committed a cardinal sin," Johnson said "I dropped my hands. I was taught ever since I was knee high to a puppy: Come out of the clinches low, hands up. I stepped back with my hands down. That's my fault. And I make that mistake when all the marbles counted!"

Roflmao !!! Not at all Cortez called Break Took a point off of Ortiz for the head butt, then looked over at Floyd's corner. Floyd acted like a coward & nailed a totally unprotected & vulnerable Ortiz with his best combination
The look on Cortez face was enough' "Awww **** what do I do now " he had never signalled or said Box on The only good thing about this was Floyd couldnt punch a hole in a wet paper sack, or else both Floyd & Cortez would have been liable if Ortiz was seriously hurt or even worse

Was a guy I used to chat to on the old Prodigy boxing forum who was a referee in I think Arizona area named Tony Zaino. The first time he was officiating on TV we all watched & told him after he needed a catch Phrase
He said make me one. We came up with " OK back to your corners then Give em Hell at the Bell !!! He did it next time he was on TV. He said afterwards that it was hilarious watching the tape & hearing the hispanic commentators explaining what he'd said. Last time I saw him way before the covid shutdown he was still using it LOL

    Where's the controversy?

A perfectly timed uppercut while the opponent had switched off. Beautiful piece of work from Taylor.

Don't drag me into your drama.

But no, they are not quite the same... but both deserved the same outcome. If you get caught sleeping in the ring, be prepared for what's to come.

Take your limited IQ and argue with someone that has the time of day to go back and forth. My posts are wasted on you.
