Well seriously, one punch can kill or permanently damage any fighter.

But Lampley was off-base by saying the rematch was one-sided. It wasn't. It was a competitive fight with a great round 6. Taylor's legs were gone after that round and he was stopped 2 rounds later, but it was not a one-sided bout.

And although it's true that Taylor was on the downside after Chavez I, he was still good enough to move up in weight and beat an undefeated Aaron Davis for a welterweight title belt.

Roger Mayweather was not the same after Chavez stopped him two times. Taylor was stopped two times by Chavez also.

Lets not even go to the rematch...wow I didnt know Taylor beat Superman Davis,,

As far as the damage.. there would be no damage because had Steele let it go the bell rings...fights over! thats how bad it was

If it would have kept going Taylor would have won by split decision so no he was not winning by a mile.

STOP YOUR BITCHING!! THERE WAS A REMATCH WASNT THERE!! AND THIS TIME CHAVEZ DID NOT TAKE CHANCES.

Did you see all the bloods coming out of Roger Mayweather's mouth in Chavez/Mayweather II?

Taylor almost died, one more punch and he might have, however, the rematch settled it.

What about that red glowing light on the post to show there was ten seconds left in the round?

The rematch was well past its due date.

The guy that deserved a rematch with Chavez in September 1994 was Frankie Randall.

Instead he got it in 2004.

If Taylor was so good, the why did Chavez end his career? Also ending Mayweathers as well.

Taylor didn't respond. He just looked at his corner. It was a legit stoppage.

This thread is nonsense. Chavez came through and stopped Taylor. End of story. Sad story for Taylor, and part of a legendary legacy for Chavez.

Yeah, and judges that scored JCC-Whitaker a draw were the judges at the ringside, based on the 10 point must system, there were no KO or even KD, so it was a legit draw.

Part of the Chavez legend, not legacy. The legend about relentless unstoppable warrior 'undefited' in blah-blah fights.

Because Taylor had too much pride and fought stupid, dumbass. Even then he was winning the fight and probably should have won the first one, he just took the kind of punishment you very rarely recover from. The very fact that he went on to win another title from what I remember AFTER the first Chavez fight speaks volumes about Taylor's class.
