David Haye is 36 years old and apart from fighting a couple of Weatherspoons bouncers, has been inactive for nearly 4 years.

He was a very good cruiserweight but (and I'm quite willing to put myself up for a verbal slam down) as he really proved himself to be a very good heavyweight?

    His victories at HW include...

Valuev, Harrison, Chisora, Ruiz, De Mori and Gjergjaj.

Obviously we all know he barely troubled Klitschko, but fair play for getting in the ring with him.

Seriously though, are them victories really impressive? Valuev was huge and that's all he had going for him. Harrison was mentally made of biscuit. Ruiz wasn't exactly a name that sent fear throughout the division. Chisora is a half decent name but not the biggest heavyweight nor the best technically. We all know about his last two opponents.

I'm happy to be proven wrong on this, but I personally believe the HW period of his career has been a lot of smoke and mirrors.

And yet he was still deemed to dangerous for antony joshua...a world title holder who eddie says is a superstar. I dont get how haye is washed up no good. And then not one call for him to fight joshua when he was desperate for an opponent on the exact same date haye had no one to fight. We had price and molina because eddie hearn claims no one was available. He just forget about haye?

Its been explained before haye hasnt had the budget to get anyone decent in the ring with him. You ll see better opponents now with the bt deal in place.

Haye is a con artist and a joke. Also a waste of a fighter who has attrributes other boxers would love to have.

    Times nearly up for Haye.
His biggest asset was always his speed and the fact he still had a decent dig

He's only going to slow down as he ages, he has fought real no hopers and might carry a bit of power still but his chin was never the greatest and there no telling how long the shoulder will hold up for.

He wont get back to the top - he needed a live fight this year to keep momentum going - the Briggs fight not happening was farcical

Maybe Eddie Hearn thinks Haye is too dangerous for Joshua. So what ?
Maybe there's another reason he didn't call him, who knows.
Don't believe what Eddie says about Molina and Price. And don't believe what Haye says about anything either.

Most of the people on this forum probably are better at assessing boxers than Eddie Hearn, or his father for that matter.
Hearn might not suspect that Haye is washed up, but some of us do, and with good reason.

You seem to expecting an awful lot from Haye but I fear you're setting yourself up for more disappointment.

Tbf no one can really say with any degree of certainty that haye is washed up. He certainly didnt look washed up against de mori and the cobra anyway. People can make out their the worst fighters the worlds ever seen but haye went in there and smashed them both early and looked reasonably good doing it. Are they really any different to a lot of the matchroom oposition we ve seen over the years anyway. People are letting their dislike of haye get the better of them.

I m still pretty certain haye will take joshua out and it wont be as hard as people think. Some heavyweights will beat haye but joshua wont be one of them.

Eddies not as dumb as some think...you ve got to remember eddies been around boxing a long time. Not just turned up the last few years. He watched guys up close from a kid that his dad had. Hes been around it. He ll say things to big his fighters up to a ridiculous level at times but he does know his boxing imo.

When haye came back hearn himself said in an interview the only two that joshua would have problems with is klitchko and haye. Lets see how joshua is when he starts getting hit back. And struggles with an opponents footspeed movement and boxing iq. Haye will catch him early. I rate joshua but hayes all wrong for him.

Joshua feasts on guys that stand infront of him...you start moving him around we ll see how great he is.
