TBE tops Forbes highest paid athlete for 2014...the rumors that boxing is dead have been greatly exaggerated.

Congrats to TBE, every boxing fan (whether you love him or hate him) should be happy on how this reflects on our beloved sport.

Floyd Mayweather is at the top of Forbes’ 2014 list of highest-paid athletes. Mayweather made $105 million over the past 12 months, according to Forbes.

This marks Mayweather’s second time topping Forbes’ list, according to a release. He was also named highest-paid athlete by Sports Illustrated and ESPN The Magazine in both 2012 and 2013.

“I’m humbled and extremely fortunate to be recognized by Forbes as the highest-paid athlete once again,” the boxer said in a release.

Mayweather's career rival, Manny Pacquiao, came in at number 11 on the list with a 12 month tally of $41.8 million.

    FORBES TOP 20

    #1 Floyd Mayweather $105 M
    #2 Cristiano Ronaldo $80 M
    #3 LeBron James $72.3 M
    #4 Lionel Messi $64.7 M
    #5 Kobe Bryant $61.5 M
    #6 Tiger Woods $61.2 M
    #7 Roger Federer $56.2 M
    #8 Phil Mickelson $53.2 M
    #9 Rafael Nadal $44.5 M
    #10 Matt Ryan $43.8 M
    #11 Manny Pacquiao $41.8 M
    #12 Zlatan Ibrahimovic $40.4 M
    #13 Derrick Rose $36.6 M
    #14 Gareth Bale $36.4 M
    #15 Radamel Falcao $35.4 M
    #16 Neymar $33.6 M
    #17 Novak Djokovic $33.1 M
    #18 Matthew Stafford $33.0 M
    #19 Lewis Hamilton $32.0 M

Amazing...Congrats to TBE, securing his legacy.

    Sad thread.

Some people think one person making absurd money is somehow good for the sport... instead of 80k people showing up to a fight, and boxing being covered by mainstream news like in the UK.

Floyd has been terrible for the sport in so many ways, he should just retire. The sooner Floyd is gone, the sooner the sport can start to recover from the damage he has done to it.

balmer bought the clippers on his own.

    bill dropped 5b in charity.

people never cared how much money these guys have.

but when people start talking about their boyhood crush about money, something is lacking.

    is it balls?

Im sorry...so we would rather have these guys trained for 8 week, be away from their love one, get punched in the head and MAKE NO MONEY.

That good for the sport, a sport where there is no health insurance, a sport where there is no pension.....

Yes so a boxer making millions off of his craft is NOT GOOD for the SPORT.

Look, you can hate TBE , that's fine....but not because he's making million off of this sport and thus showing other up and coming boxers that if you work hard and have dedication, you can achieve your dream too.

Well, TBFE is all about the money so good for him. Hope he doesn't blow it all on the hangers-on and leeches.

No, I would rather competitive fights be made and more guys make good money not fewer. 20 domestic boxers making 5 million would indicate a healthy sport not one fighter making 100. You are totally off base here whacking at the straw man.

The problem here is Floyd fans like yourself mistaking themselves for boxing fans, and putting the payday of one man above the general health of the sport - even conflating Floyds pay WITH the health of the sport which is completely ridiculous.

Talk to some ex-boxing fans, and one big reason many of them got away from boxing is because of the sense that the good fights were rarely made. Something Floyd has had a huge hand in. Not that he is alone, nor solely responsible - but he does play a big part. Both in his own matchmaking, and in the example he sets.

Boxing has been on the upswing in many parts of the world, yet on the downswing in the USA in regards to popularity. Floyd and TMT w/Haymon has been the largest figures, biggest powerbrokers and players during much of this time. The relatively good year of 2013 with making decent fights may have stemmed the bleeding a little but there is still a long way to go.

It will go better once Floyd finally hangs up the gloves. Boxing needs to move past the Manny/Floyd era, and the sooner the better.

me too, this ****'s getting old :-(

good for him though, hopefully he doesn't end up like Tyson, Bowe, Holy or many of the other boxing superstars of the 90's, fighting around the world for scraps

You said that TBE is bad for the sport? why? what has he done that is actually detrimental for the sport? He's is not the promoter of every fighter in boxing or is it just your personal hate for the man...which I think it is.

I would love for all fighters to make money but the said reality is only the best of the best make that money.

And your point is stupid, while TBE does make the most, he's not the only one eating good because they work hard and dedicated their time to their craft to get there.

    Miguel Cotto is eating good
    Manny Paquiao is eating good
    Bernard Hopkins is eating good
    Vladimir Klitchsko is eating good
    Saul Alvarez is eating good

Those fighters that I listed are from different parts of the globe and they are eating good.

This is boxing and it is not a perfect sport, with politics involved...sometime you get the best fighting the best in competitive matches and sometimes you don't get the competitive matches you are looking for....but to label TBE responsible is ludicrous.

Has TBE fought all the best fighters? No he hasn't, he's avoided some fighters but are you going to tell me that all the fighters on his 46-0 record are bums? As far as TBE fights being competitive, it's not his fault that he's a higher level fighter than the combatant across the ring from him.

You are pretty insane if you chalk up observing the negative influence Floyd has had on the sport to some sort of personal hate. I dont like or dislike the guy. I have no problem with him making whatever money he can, but that does not mean his influence has been a positive one on the sport.

Take a look in the mirror, you will see a guy who calls Floyd "The Best Ever" when he did not even fight the legacy fights in his own division. That type of crap turns off everyone who doesnt have a TMT hat for each day of the week.

edit: and if PAC was peddling the same crap, I would be calling it crap as well.
