whos the p4p best or whos the best ''boxer'' who is more ''skilful'' isnt boxing just about entertainment at the end of the day who you enjoy watching. I think us boxing fans get in depth when every pro sport 1st and foremost is entertainment for the public because if it wasnt shown on tv or didnt have a crowd it wouldnt exist?
I mean, it's sweet and cool to root for the Cleveland Browns... as long as you only watch the Cleveland Browns.
No, I only care about who`s the best, the entertaining part is seeing a guy as great as Ali take on an unbeatable fighter like Foreman and the hype that comes with that, otherwise there`s no point to sport.
What I think you're missing, is that a great deal of entertainment value results from having endless discussions on these sort of things. That's why message boards like this, that's active 24/7 year round, exist in the first place. Discussing the what ifs, and the ins-and-outs, etc, is all part of the fun.
I don't give a **** about belts. I don't give a **** about sanctioning bodies. I don't give a **** about purse bids. I don't give a **** about promoters. I don't give a **** about managers. I don't give a **** about trainers. I don't give a **** about rankings. I don't give a **** about networks. I don't give a **** about ratings. All I care about is watching two guys in a ring fighting, their styles, skillsets, strengths, weaknesses and everybody they've fought in the past. Not because I like using that as a measuring stick to rank them with, only as a better analytical tool to use in the future to discuss how they'll perform against future competitors. Because I like thinking about **** like that. That being said, as much as I hate all of that horse****, I'm absolutely excellent at breaking down who should be ranked higher in terms of who's the "best" or who has the superior "skills".
But there's also a risk in over thinking things, which in time can take the joy out of simple pleasures. Most of the time you start out liking something for the noblest simplest reasons, then over time you get mired in the weeds of all the details, and over complicate things, which can lead you losing track of the reason why you started caring in the first place. Letting anything get bogged down with politics can choke the life out of it, including relationships, television shows, films, sports, and very essence of life itself.
For the amount of passion and time we put in to this sport it's all gotta mean something we need to know whose the best and all that.
