Catching up now; was about to say I still haven't been spoiled on the result but I believe the goddamn thumbnail image on this YT upload might have just spoiled it for me!

Kazuto Ioka vs. Jeyvier Jesús Cintrón Ocasio, 12 rounds @ super flyweight

 

Aw, man...this poignant video package, showing Ioka with his baby...I'm dreading what's to come, now.

 

Update: it turns out that image from the YT thumbnail (of Cintrón peering into the camera with an elated celebratory grin) was actually from a previous fight, during the introductory highlight reel! No spoilers then!

I mean, it may be that he won, but I still don't actually know for sure... at least what I'd thought was a giveaway, isn't.

 

Round 1

Cintrón is jabbing over the head of Ioka from outside. Ioka looks about two divisions smaller, not just shorter - much broader shoulders and thicker (but also trimmer, full of lean muscle) frame on Cintrón. Ioka pawing the left jab and working his way in but eating right jabs everywhere outside the pocket. Ioka manages to clap a high right against the cheek after doubling a left jab feint at mid-range. Cintrón doing a good job turning Ioka, finding him with a plunging 1-2 down the pipe, landing on the bridge of the nose. Ioka jumps in and flurries on the body, and they clinch. Isolated right jabs and left hand leads into the guard from Cintrón while dancing a few paces away from Ioka.

Round 2

Cintrón is starting to light up Ioka with that long 1-2. Proving every bit the pain in the ass rangy southpaws have a reputation for being. Cintrón with really nice footwork, orbiting Ioka, setting traps, whacking the body with underarm softball pitch right hooks on the flanks, and then soaring in with superman lefts zapping Ioka on the face. Ioka able to chip away here and there with an odd right hand snapping back the head of Cintrón when he is within range, but Ioka getting in a fraction as many licks as the challenger.

Round 3

Cintrón is speared with a right on the abdomen that sends him flying into the next set of ropes. Cintrón gets his footing and continues to circle away from Ioka, looking to dial in that 1-2. Instead the champion is the one to glide in and land a series of hard overhand rights, getting the crowd to come to life. Ioka now targeting Cintrón's body with left hooks, doing a good job keeping pace with him, bobbing & weaving in. Cintrón begins to leap around tossing straight lefts at the head, but Ioka never letting him get set to aim, marching him down, keeping up a high guard, working the body when he gets close. Ioka eases off a couple of steps to make Cintrón miss the 1-2. Quick slapping right hook around the glove by Cintrón while circling away. Cintrón ducks an Ioka left hook but is left suspended in the pocket where he is grazed on the chest by a double right uppercut before wriggling out to cover. Rapier rjab on the body from Cintrón at the bell.

Round 4

Cintrón is throwing his 1-2-1-2 into the face, catching Ioka with at least one left cross each time, but Ioka keeps himself towed in Cintrón's wake, never more than a meter off, always pelting the body with both hands. Cintrón looking bothered whenever Ioka strings more than a few together. Cintrón leaning to his right and winging desperation hooks, scything upward. Ioka presses through and lands some meaty left hooks in the liver area. Ioka flurries in close and Cintrón reaches both gloves out to place on Ioka's shoulders and push him away, even as Ioka drops a short hook across his chin. Lunging lead left on the body by Cintrón, missing as Ioka melts away and sucks in.
