Fukunaga is putting together some hard left uppercuts behind the jab now, then bucking his own front hip against Ioka's to give himself a little room to exploit his greater reach and/or deny any potential clinches and pairing straight left hand leads with right hooks. Ioka landing with right hands down the pipe during moments when they circle together and the perfect window of range opens for him, but otherwise is fanning with his left and missing - short on the hooks and his jabs smacked down in midair.

Round 6

Fukunaga is turning Ioka on a spit, popping right jabs in his face and catching most of Ioka's left jabs in the palm of his right glove waiting by his cheek, and sending in teardrop lefts overhead to smash down into the cornrows of the champ. Ioka begins to wind his way closer in, and begins to double and triple-tap with left hooks climbing up Fukunaga's sides. Fukunaga doesn't like those and begins to circle away, hands low to conserve gas. Ioka gets in close and harries Fukunaga with some right hands.

Round 7

Fukunaga is throwing long right jabs on the outside and then bowling in gutterball lefts on the belt line. Ioka waiting until Fukunaga is within a few paces and sending out zinger 1-2s, headhunting, getting the guard to lift up, and then diving forward and down headfirst and lunging in with left hooks on the body. Ioka has Fukunaga hurt with a power combo midway into the round, but Fukunaga hangs in there. He thinks about clinching for a moment, leaning in on Ioka, but then shoves away with both palms flat to his chest instead. Fukunaga tries regaining some momentum, pressuring in the last minute with jabs and left uppercuts, but Ioka has found a groove, picking off shots and countering with hooks to body and head.
