TBS + UFC FP: Kazuto Ioka vs. Aston Francis Melos Palicte & Hiroto Kyōguchi vs. Tanawat Nakoon RBR

Round 1

Palicte is asserting himself with the long jab, snapping it down into the face of Ioka, making him flinch. Body jabs by Ioka. Quick left hook on the ribs by Ioka weaving his way in. Palicte strings together a right uppercut and left hook flung in from a distance, with his feet closing the gap a second later. Palicte throwing power combinations very smoothly, loosening up early. Ioka just getting a feel out for his opponent, doing naught but peck with the jab, probing for weaknesses, studying Palicte's behavioral patterns, gauging the power in his mostly-blocked shots. Nice combination by Ioka cutting his way inside and working underneath the gloves, in the open space between Palicte's wrists. Jabs swapped in the final ten seconds.

The only drawback to my dual method of viewing (with them not being synced up) is that if somebody gets KTFO, it'll only be in my periphery on the lower-quality and lag-heavy Keyhole feed.. and it'll spoil the suspense for me when the much clearer UFP catches up..

 

I can't believe what a size difference there is, wasn't expecting it to be quite this stark.

 

Round 2

Palicte is being stayed as Ioka flits side to side and then charges in low with double hooks downstairs and lancing rights up top. Palicte is turning in place and lining up the jab, taking aim, then occasionally notching & loosing a counter right hand down the pipe. Ioka much busier, landing in bursts with his kamikaze attack, while Palicte is dealing out the more damaging stuff in singles w/ nicely timed counters.

I knew he was taller, but they legit appear to belong naturally 2-3 weight classes apart..

 

Round 3

Palicte is using a two-pronged attack, jabbing into the waistband and throwing a hypotenuse right between Ioka's eyes. Palicte is opening up with exchanges when Ioka charges in now, clipping him with short uppercuts in succession. Ioka still having success when he rushes in, slipping jabs and landing in multiples before receding, but always taking a receipt. Palicte still landing a bit less but the heaviest shots.
