This just about sums it up. Liston is by far the most underrated heavy of all time. Surprised that someone with Klompton's expertise would actually write this garbage. Learn something new everyday.

I tend to agree with you but you have to be objective, he did have flaws like all boxers do. He couldn't cut off the ring worth a beans. Now with that being said, he might not have been as successful by doing so and here's why. Liston boxed most of the time with his right foot directly behind his left, as opposed to a little more of an open stance. This makes it not only a lot harder to move laterally, but you would need to cover more distance as well, which would leave him way off balance from his natural stance thus making cutting off the ring ineffective. He just wouldn't be good at it given his stance, imo..What sucks about looking back at Liston is that he doesn't get the credit he deserves for being avoided, so his resume gets knocked.. But most wanted nothing to do with him, in or out of the ring. Posters all the time use terms like "green" or "shot", etc... Liston takes most of his criticism at age 35 when facing Ali, to me, that tells you how great he really was when you start picking apart a boxer at age 35 ... they just don't want to give him his due for making such short work out of Patterson twice and Williams twice, and others .. He basically started boxing at age 20, 1 year amateur, then went on his terror, with only 1 setback ..... until he faced Prime time Ali at 35 .. what more really could he have done?

"There were few spectators in the Pavilion. Vic led them to some front row padded loge seats. The world's number one heavyweight contender was in the ring working with a very fast light heavyweight. Although his size made him seem as ponderous as a water buffalo, Liston was in fact faster than the sparring partner. He worked on cutting off the ring, something he anticipated he would have to do with Patterson, who was lightning fast and a fine boxer as well. Time and again Liston trapped the light heavyweight along the ropes. Liston threw light punches and let him go, only to trap him again."

Liston will come back from the dead and knock you out with his jab if you insult him like that again!

Ask Liston if he's not insulted at someone coming at his masculinity and calling him a ******. Don't think he'd be like "Yeah I am. Wanna fuc k?".

I think Reznick actually has footage of the sparring session at hand.

Thank you. I deal in facts, not regurgitated folklore like many or venom like a few others ..
