how do i teach my brother boxing so he becomes good fast and we can have cool fights
ive been boxing for 7 months, he never boxed b4
i feel like i havent improved a lot as fast as i could cuz i only fight about 20 minutes every class, two classes a week. If i could fight at home with him any time and he was somewhat near my level I could improve much faster

I'll second that opinion and here's why.

You've only been boxing for 7 months and get as little as 2 classes with some sparring every week. Then you are willing to admit you are not really improving as fast as you'd like and you think the answer is to box your totally inexperienced brother for more experience.

That is like the blind leading the blind and will only serve to have both of you using bad technique in just about all aspects of boxing. I suggest you get to the gym more often and learn from a proper trainer and shelve the idea of boxing your brother in the back yard.

wut? seven months is a long time, i've had some classes with nothing but sparring, i just said that in general, its about 20~30 minutes
also, hes a lot heavier than me and he asked me to teach him
I don't have bad technique, I've been training with mitts almost every class for 7 months
You guys are too ****ing negative, get the **** out

Not a **** if being honest. You just didn't elaborate and left it at no, but that was the proper answer. Anybody that doesn't think so would be doing this guy a disservice.

OK Angelo Dundee, go ahead and train yourself in your back yard/garage/den and get yourself or your brother hurt.

Don't ask for advice if you are not willing to hear what you don't really want to hear. Guess the truth just doesn't set too well with some folks.

but you see, i didn't ask
i asked how to do it, not if doing it was a good idea

and of course i wouldn't stop going to the boxing classes, i'm also gonna buy everything, boxing gloves, headgear, mouthpiece, hand wraps, so we dont get hurt, although we'll obviously start taking it easy

7 months is a long time! **** man you have no idea. Save this post for a couple of years and you will laugh at it like people here. Eddie Futch didn't become a top line coach until his 60s. Freddy Roach had 20 years of boxing then went and learn't to be a coach from Futch.

Isn't that answering your own question? If you have been boxing for 7 months surely you can teach him the basics.

What for? OP's got 7 whole months of experience under his belt. I doubt there's anything his certified coaches can teach his brother that he can't.

My point was after 7 months twice a week. You would be doing him or yourself no favours.

Marvin Hagler would go to the gym, come home and teach Ronnie Sims, and Ronnie ended up doing ok. I used to come home and teach my sister, she was 3 at the time, and I taught my younger cousins, too.
There are a lot of drills and other things that take two to work at. In this day and age, I would advise against sparring or fighting one another in an unsupervised enviroment. Mostly because if one of you got hurt, you might sue me.
When we were kids we did that all the time. One friend had 10oz gloves, another 12oz, not too bad. The kid down the street had 4oz gloves, and with another guy, we just wrapped rags around our hands and boxed.

Marvin Hagler hadn't become Marvin Hagler at that point, either.
