Team Abril plan to protest Rios' decision loss, who are in favor?

    International boxing advisor Ricardo Rizzo, has expressed his anger with Saturday's highly controversial decision between Richard Abril and Brandon Rios. Rizzo's boxer Abril, lost a 12 round split decision to Rios. The vast majority of the media at both ringside and watching the payperview event, scored the contest in favor of Abril.

    " With these decisions in Las Vegas boxing is losing credibility. It seems that Top Rank boxers are protected as even the payperview commentators said that Abril took Brandon Rios to school. Abril was fighting him in the " old school " style and the judges in Las Vegas are the most stupid out there. We strongly protest the decision of these judges who are incompetent ". Rizzo said.

    At the end of the 12 rounds local judges Jerry Roth and Glenn Trowbridge had it for Rios 116-112 and 115-113. Only the third judge Adalaide Byrd scored the fight for Abril 117-111.

    Rizzo said one of the main problems in Nevada is the local commision's refusal to allow international judges to work important fights.

    " Only Adalaide Byrd who is an international judge for the WBO and WBA issued the correct score. I want to appeal to the WBA to rectify this result. Promoters and Global agencies must work together to force the Nevada State Athletic Commission to accept the participation of international judges just like the rest of the World ". Rizzo said.

    Hmmm, at least Abril's team is on the right track but will they find justice?

    I think you posted a Thread where 95% posters believed Abril won, no need to ask what we believe :lol: good on abril to take steps toward justice. He should be knocking on Arum's door in Vegas as well

    These protests rarely get anything done. The most that happens is a rematch is ordered by the sanctioning body, but Rios has no title. So look for Arum/Rios to runaway with the "W" and never look back.

    Here's what will happen. . . They won't overturn the decision, but Abril will be granted an immediate shot at the still-vacant WBA title. . . Since Rios is moving up to 140, that'll pretty much be that in regards to Rios/Abril. . .

    So good news, and bad news will come out of this appeal.

    Have the judges been suspended? I know all three judges were suspended from the Lara-Williams fight. So have the judges from this fight been suspended, or are they at least being investigated?

    I doubt they will. . . These were all very high-profile judges who constantly score championship fights in Vegas. . . Trowbridge, and Roth are usually pretty much on point. . . I was shocked. . .

    Adailade Byrd, the judge who usually turns in some funny scorecards, got it right.
