These decisions are killing boxing .

This was worse than watching the Sven Ottke box set.

Abril should get his claim out to as many as possible , do as many interviews with as many sites and magazines as he can and generally start a campaign to have an immediate rematch at 140 vs Rios. Make it so Rios has no choice but to accept a rematch at a weight he's comfortable at or forever be looked at as a ducking *****. He should do everything in his power to force a rematch, this won't get overturned but a rematch at 140 will erase all doubts and if Rios is a man he'll be dying to avenge his disasterous perofmance

Won't look that way. He'll just say "82 friggin clinches, nobody wants to see a rematch of that".

    half of which Rios initiated....

and nah that won't fly cause aside from a select few Rios nuthuggers the entire boxing world is up in arms over the poor deicision as indicated by polls on various sites where no less than 95 percent of people thought Abril was robbed..... that will not be accepted as an excuse, if Rios refuses a rematch at 140 where Abril has no business fighting he'll be looked at as ***** straight up. As far as boxing fans go he lost the first fight and his stock is at an all time low....avenging this at 140 is his only way to redemption and Abril says he's willing to go there. What kind of ***** wouldn't wanna prove they're the better fighter when the entire fan base and media of the sport are clowning him.....Rios seems like he's the type of guy that wants revenge, lets hope he doesn't ***** out of a rematch.

Really? I watched Abril hook over and over and over. Should Rios have avoided that? Absolutely. Should Vampire Man stepped in and put a stop to it? Absolutely. He had given two warnings by, I think, round 4. Given the fall out from the Kahn/Peterson match he may have been reluctant to take points. I don't know, but he warned twice and the behavior didn't stop so he just ignores it? Good job Fang boy. I think this is where the real problem lies. Draculich didn't do his job.

99.99% of people that pay for boxing through attending live events and PPV won't give a flying fig next week. Top Rank will do their job and paint Abril as a spoiler and a sore loser and move on. Abril doesn't have the management team to lobby in any effective medium. His promoter doesn't do anything but suck up what ESPN/HBO/Showtime will give. HBO/Showtime are likely to give free publicity to a guy who's style they don't want on their broadcasts.

Note you will not find one post on here where I said Rios won. I've been trying to give the reality of the situation. Rios doesn't need the rematch and Abril cannot build the case to get it. At least I doubt it. Top Rank MIGHT make the fight if Abril accepted little to no money and they were assured they would get a ref that would deduct for excessive holding, neither of which I see happening.

^^^ I hear ya on the tip that he doesn't have the power to lobby for a rematch but you're underestimating Rios will to erase doubt.....how could he not accept the fight at 140? He's being shed in a negative light already, if Abril went all out calling out Rios everywhere possible for a rematch at 140 then Rios is gonna take some serious pr damage that he won't recover from unless he beats a top level fighter at 140 which I doubt he can.....Abril rematch would be much easier fight to win than JMM and his stock will go way up if he pulls it off. Getting his ass whupped by Marquez does nothing for him.

Good point but when I heard that they even were thinking about putting him in with Marquez I felt Top Rank was setting him up with a payday and a loss. Possibly a bone to Marquez to set up a Pac rematch? Remember, Arum is very patient when it comes to the big picture. A loss to Marquez does not equal a loss to Abril.

I don't see the point in protesting. People know he did well and should have won. Fight his next fight and prove how good he is. They won't overturn the result.

Because if they are successful, they are cleaning up the sport. One robbery at a time.

Slows down Abrils career. Some will say his style was at fault. Nothing will come of it as protests never really accomplished much or reverse anything, but if they do it then fine. If there is a good reason. I sometimes see it and whining and complaining when things didn't go their way which happens in boxing. Hearns could have protested the draw with Ray in 1989 he lost by a point, but he didn't. You have accept the decisions sometimes. Sucks but what can you do?

I have seen protests used by many trainers the wrong way. I have seen trainers in corners and their fighter is being beaten badly in a mismatch and the fight was stopped. In one particular fight, just because his fighter was not on the floor it was a bad stoppage to the trainer. I was thinking thank good the fight was stopped for the guys well being. He was getting hit clean and the fight was going on. Yelling and screaming ensued by the trainer and looking at the ref and complaining and talking **** and a big protest was filed. Then that trainer is seen as a troublemaker where people don't want to deal with him anymore because he is irrational. That is what I like about guys like Emanual Steward. They know the game and are level headed and know when thier fighter is losing and accepts it. I rambled on about this. You guys see my point.

Ray leonard getting the draw vs hearns was a robbery since we all know that was a even fight in rounds but the kd's gave tommy the win yet they didnt give it to him.
If that would have been a win on hearns resume people would talk way different about him and underrate him less when discussing fab 4, even when they know he got robbed.
But abril vs rios was on a different level, rios didnt win more than 1/2 rounds.
Those judges should be banned for life.
