Danish TV2 has today spoken to Press Officer David Messier from IBF champion Lucian Bute's promotor Interbox. He says:

"We have given Kessler a serious offer. They said they wanted to wait untill saturdays fight with Mehdi Bouadla was over before replying. Now we are waiting."

Mikkel Kessler's promotor Kalle Sauerland told the network, that they are waiting for the new SMW rankings from WBO.

"If Kessler becomes mandatory for Robert Stieglitz WBO title we will decide which is the better option", Sauerland says.

BUTE has laid down the gauntlet. Looks like Kessler's team is hesitant.

Stieglitz actually makes more sense than Bute.. If we see this from a business/boxing politics perspective

Kessler has no right to be calling Bute a hypejob etc if he rejects a reasonable offer from Bute. And Kessler fans also lose the right to call Bute a cherry picker if this fight doesn't happen.

i think kessler fighting stieglitz first is a good move, he still looked a little rusty and was getting hit a bit too much in the 5th, if it wasnt for the wbo title then people have a right to moan but if he wins that title it will make it a lot more interesting when he fights bute, hopefully we get one big unification spring 2012 ward vs bute probably while kessler and froch have there rematch on the undercard???

Well if he beats the "Glitz" then there will be more money and more interest if its a unification match, and he probably wants to get that fight done in his hometown.

its a bad move, because Kessler looked like ****. Kessler is there to be taken by an above avg super middleweight. Might as well take the biggest fight & make the most money

    Hmmm... True.

But is the offer reasonable? Last week Sauerland said he was lowballed. Lots of negotiating awaits us.

Other fighters are avoiding Bute like he's RJJ, it's hilarious.

He even switched over to Showtime to get the fights but no one has stepped to the plate yet. Well, maybe when the super six is over.

    1) Make Bute-Pavlik & Kessler-Stieglitz
    2) Unify

    Makes most sense.

Ward & Froch will fight anyone
    AA - he's finished at 168
    Jermaine Taylor - he's been KO'd enough
    Dirrell - blackballed
Kessler - trying to pick up the pieces
Glen Johnson - really should go back to 175 if he continues on but will fight anyone
    Allan Green - finished

This is why Froch gets more respect from me. We all know that if Froch had the choice he wouldnt even look at this Stieglitz guy and go straight to Bute. With Kesslers age and injuries, he should only look for the big fights and not worry about silly belts.
