Team Bute: We are still waiting for a reply from Mikkel Kessler.

It doesn't really matter who Kessler fights. We all know that the Ward/Froch winner is the real champ and that Bute is the no.1 contender. Kessler can cherrypick all the paper titles he wants until he's ready to face a true champion again.

 

Yes but time is running out for Kessler with his injuries. He shouldn't waste his time and just pick the best fights out there.

 

What is a reasonable offer from Bute is not necessarily a good offer to Kessler.There is big money in Europe as well and Montreal is not the most neutral place in the world for the out of town fighter.
Kess should tackle Stiegler first if he is the manditory and grab the title back.He will then be in a better position to negotiate with the Pikey from Romania.

 

Kalle Sauerland has already stated, that the offer - which is a fight in Canada, off course - is wayyyy to low.

They aren't coming to Canada to fight for peanuts. But hey, now Interbox can say, that they tried to make the fight...

... And Bute can go back fighting outside top-10 fighters.

Hopefully they make a bigger offer, Kessler has proven many times, that he's ready to go abroad to fight. And fight the best. Bute hasn't.

Look they said they are waiting for a reply... they didn't said Kessler had to take it or leave it. It's called NEGOCIATIONS. You don't necessarily give your best offer the first try. If Sauerland think it's too low, he can certainly make a counter offer. Interbox is waiting. The ball is in Sauerland's camp.

If you don't like the offer made, then you make a counteroffer. That's how it works. You don't wait for a bigger offer.

Sauderland are obviously already bypassing Bute and targeting Steiglitz. But the problem is doubt that Steiglitz's promoters are ready to cash out on him yet.

 

I don't think Kessler/Bute in Montreal is an option in Sauerland's mind at this moment. It sounds like they want Kessler/Stieglitz this fall in Denmark and I don't really blame them. I think it's safe to say that Kessler is the most popular person in Denmark and him coming back and fighting for a world title against a German will sell a lot of tickets and PPV's at 100$ a piece.

As a fan though, Kessler/Bute is obviously a much more exciting matchup but I think Kessler deserves to have that fight in Denmark.

Normally when you seriously want a fight, if you don't like the first offer then you counter with your own to make the fight....

I find it hilarious when promoters say the offer sucks but do nothing to counter it or don't even make an effort to make one themselves.

Bottom line, Showtime wants that fight and is pushing for it. Kessler has no business fighting Stieglietz anyway, a guy that was knocked out by both Berrio & Andrade.

That being said I would also prefer Kessler - Bute over Kessler - Stieglitz but I think that Bute is being hyped to something he is not, and until he have faced a top tier opponent I'm not going for the no. 1 contender.

 

If the money is right them I'm sure Kessler would travel to Canada and fight Bute. Why would a man who travelled abroard to fight Calzaghe be afraid to do the same against Bute? There is no logic to that argument.
