Rigondeaux won it but he won it in such a dull and disapointing way. There is no grounds for a rematch, it was a dull fight that nobody wants to see again. Rigondeaux needs to be in there with an aggressive fighter who'll try to take the fight to him for an exciting fight, put him in with a counterpunching southpaw and you'll get another snore-fest.

Yeah but that commentator from Panama was completely BIASED against Rigondeaux !!! I mean he completely critized Rigondeaux from start to finish and at the end said that, " Rigondeaux didn't win the fight but Cordoba lost it ", I mean what a sore loser !!! :-(

El tipo estaba super molesto porque Cordoba no podia tocar a Rigondeaux. The part that really got to me was when he said, " Rigondeaux doesn't know who is in front on him, a former World Champion and he must show respect " and then I said to myself, " Well, Cordoba also doesn't know who is in front of him, a former 2 times Olympic Champion and many times World Amateur Champion ". The guy doesn't understand that what Rigo did in the amateurs is actually harder than what Cordoba has done as a pro! :-(

Exactly. He was saying that he was going to send Rigo back to the amateurs and now he is crying and begging for a rematch! Pathetic...:-(

Cordoba, take your loss as a man ... :hey

I agree with some of your points. Rigo's style is better for aggressive orthodox fighters that will come at him. Most of the times a southpaw vs a southpaw is kind of boring anyways. :good

Rigo won the fight and its very hard for anyone to argue that point. From Cordobas team i can understand that this was their biggest fight in a while and their opportunity to get back into the big time, having lost they are now back in the wilderness. If they could force a rematch it would be another high profile payday and after Rigo went negative and defence for the last six rounds of the fight Cordobas team may believe they could take the rematch. If Rigo can get another big name he should move on, if not a more comprehensive victory against Cordoba in a rematch might be the next best thing.

I think GR should go for WVJr. the kid is explosive and and goes forward all the time, which would make it a better fight.

Cordoba lost that fight. If he landed more than 10 punches on Rigondeaux anatomy was too much. Even his fellows Panamanian knew that Cordoba could not figure out how to find Rigo. Cordoba lost, clearly, all first six rounds and did not win any of the last six because Rigondeaux ran like a bullet all over the place hitting and running. For us that behaviour was unacceptable, but Rigo won an easy fight, too easy I guess. Not a pleasant fight, yes, it was not. That's why we demand Rigondeaux not to run like that anymore.

i dont get what they are reviewing? it was an incredibly boring fight. it was one of the worst i have ever seen. but so what? how is that reviewable? will they overturn it based on rigondeux putting peop[le to sleep? give rigondeaux the loss via boredom? i mean he did win the fight. and i think the price he will pay for it is in the pocket book. if he wants to keep fighting like an amateur, he can get paid like one. but he won the fight

I think we will a different GR next time, I remember Withaker back in the day, I couldn't watch the SOB, but he was a master. we have to cut some slack here, it was his first 12th round fight, after only 6 fights, his first belt (regardless of the label), he could had koed Cordoab in the 4th, and he never went for the kill, imo he was a little concern and he want it conserve energy.

Rigondeaux destroyed Cordoba. Plain and simple. Thoroughly outboxed and outclassed.

There will be a rematch. The WBA Convention granted it to Cordoba.
