Hey Guys thought i would start a thread about this, about 4 months away from, the game now. I think we have 8 boxers (out of 9 weight classes) which I think is a record by a long way. If people can get down the names a weights of the boxers and any additional info would be grateful. What do you think there chances are? Obviously Frankie Gavin is the big hope. I think we could pick up 1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
Britain's eight hopes - Frankie Gavin James Degale David Price Joe Murray Bradley Saunders Joe Saunders Tony Jeffries Khalid Yafai
I don't think Frankie will get into the final, the weight is pretty strong and I can see him getting outpointed pretty easily, despite his gold at the worlds.
Possible medalists.... Gavin Yafai (On his day hes **** hot) Not too sure about the others! Whos knocking about at Degales weight?
I think we could get a few in the later rounds of the competition. All depends on how hot the Cuban's are feeling after missing the worlds.
was a good little piece from Steve Bunce who whatever people think about him (i personally like him when a pro like woodhall or mcguigan is next to him) does a great job at getting boxing pro and amateur main stream exposure. Looks like we have a chance of getting 3 or 4 medals.
Came across like a down to earth bunch of guys. Good that there is a few of them going to support eachother out there. An achievement just to qualify - should be a fantastic experience for them and hopefully they will bring home a few medals!
Well I would imagine that Roberto Cammarelle is favourite for Superheavies and with Zhang Zhilei in there I expect to see some home town score cards, but if Pricey can avoid them early doors then I think he's in with a shout for a medal!
