No chance of 1 undisputed middleweight champ anytime soon unfortunately

Yes N'Jikam has done some shameful stuff but he also clearly has a better professional resume than Golovkin. Khurtsidze is the best opponent either has faced to date (though I know how you feel about the scoring of that one).
I don't know why Pirog is necessarily not as valid as Golovkin on the basis of accomplishments. There are unfortunately a lot of reasons why he likely won't fight again in the US in the near future but the beltless thing shouldn't really matter since Golovkin practically is as well, unless of course the WBA strips Geale.
Neither might be a tough as Golovkin, but the amount of money they'd bring in precludes any acceptance of a fight with them from being a duck IMO. You use the "not well known in the US" logic to justify Golovkin over Pirog but it applies even more in the Cotto/Alvarez-Golovkin scenario.

I should say I'd want to see Golovkin as an opponent far more than anyone else but I don't think he's an obvious enough choice for these alternate fights to be fairly construed as ducks.

Yeah I dont want to see it either tbh, but don't like the notion that Geale is ducking GGG .
His longer association with the IBF than WBA prob plays more of a part.

The guy just went to Germany for the second time and picked up a second belt. Give the guy one fight at home and let him have a good payday. His heart is not in question . He will likely go for a bigger fight after

He'll get an exception from IBF for unifying vs. GGG, he won't get an exception from the WBA however for fighting SS.

There's only one way to keep both his belts, and that is honoring the WBA mandatory vs. regular champ GGG. Not that I'd pick him to keep his belts in that fight, unfortunately Shaw knows as much.

The WBA is giving him no exception. It's not about Geale, the WBA super/regular unification is a long overdue, so in order to keep that belt, Geale has to fight GGG it's that simple.

It can be a payday at home BTW if Team Geale puts down the cash, GGG is willing to travel.

:huh Thats pure speculation on your behalf. The IBF would have to be the strictest org with only 1 champ with the WBA being the most lenient with 3 champs at a time.

You should understand that i'm using the word duck in regards to Martinez being regarded as the lineal MW Champion. In the Cotto/Alvarez scenario if he wants to drop down for a money fight that's fine but the Sergiosexuals and media need to stop declaring him the man at MW, he relinquishes that right. You can't remain the #1 MW through default by not fighting the top contenders.

Also as a boxing fan i want the next generation to have the oppertunity to challenge the #1 and continue a lineage. If Martinez goes after a 154 money fight then retires i lose whatever respect i have for him regarding a MW legacy.

Don't think that's the case at all. Dawson will still clearly be the man at light heavyweight after Saturday regardless of the outcome. Floyd was still the man at welter when he went up and beat Oscar. The rules for lineage are always murky, but I don't know of anyone that argues someone gives up the title after one fight outside of the division.

I would never have reckoned Geale would be the ducking type and I'm sure I read him say something about Mundine/Kessler(could be wrong) so I'd be gutted if he has a long term plan to avoid 3G.
I lost a few quid on Saturday but deep down I'm glad Geale put that disgraceful waste of fighting ability Sturm out the picture for now.I had a feeling he might, especially right before the first bell.
3G is going to feel like Margarito used to for the forseeable future.Hardcore fan favourite who no one will go near.

To be fair, you can't complain that Geale has been matched up softly lately. If he wants to cash out once or twice in Australia with his titles, I can't blame him. But yeah, he should fight GGG down the road. No later than 2013 anyway.

What about Williams (now really a MW but he fought in the division and had a "win" over Martinez), Macklin and Chavez ?
He is fighting the top guys.

Well thats not his fault there a ****ed up org and have let Sturm dodge the mando. You know he's not a big enough draw to afford bringing GGG to Australia and would likely have to go to USA and fight as the away fighter again. He has earned the right to choose at least for one fight

Well if Geale goes forward with the Soliman fight and Martinez-Chavez does head into a rematch, guess we could end up seeing Golovkin fight someone like Rubio or Macklin. Then regardless of whether the WBA strips Geale, he and GGG can fight in March or April. I think if Martinez wins against Chavez, he'll be reluctant to get into the ring with GGG, he's talking about Mayweather & Pac and future PPV fights. GGG still doesn't bring enough money for him.

Interesting interview on Ring after the Proksa fight, Golovkin said he's no longer interested in fighting Pirog, that it'd be a step backwards now.

Yeah but if Geale and Martinez/Chavez are not available then Pirog would be better than Macklin, Lee, Murray or any of the other contenders.

They are all beating down the door to get a fight with Golovkin aren't they? Sturm sure didn't want to have a bar of him :-(
