Team GGG explains the Ward situation

    So Team GGG has addressed some things about the Ward fight that I think is worthy of its own thread rather than it being mixed up with countless posts.

    Sanchez:

    “It’s good to see him fighting on the undercard,”

    “Ward needs to become more relevant. As long as he’s fighting and he’s winning and looking good it makes a fight with Gennady more viable. But right now Gennady’s intent is to be fighting the Lemieux then the winner of Canelo-Cotto, so he’s going to be tied up a little while. Andre’s last fight was at 172 and I think his next fight will be even higher than that. It doesn’t mean he won’t come back down to 168.”

    Sanchez clarified some past statements:

    “We’d go from 154 or 168 to if it makes financial sense, it doesn’t make financial sense to fight Andre Ward at 168 or at any weight because Andre likes to have everything his way. He’s not the A-side here. He’s not relevant like what we’re doing here. He’s not the A-side. Until that happens that he’s relevant selling tickets like we’re doing especially if he’s fighting on an undercard, he can’t dictate terms.”

    Loeffler:

    “Ward-Golovkin is not a realistic fight at this point. Maybe after Golovkin unifies the titles we can talk the Ward fight. Froch just fought in front of 80,000 people in Wembley Stadium and UK pay-per-view money and that’s why we were willing to go up. No disrespect to Andre, just like we would go down to fight Floyd (Mayweather) at 154, it makes sense. It just doesn’t make sense to fight Andre because he’s not that relevant. There’s no guarantee that he fights at 168.”

    Sanchez

    “At this point we don’t need them, they need us.”

    More relevant??? The man is the champ at 168 but he needs to become more relevant? The man was #2 P4P before getting injured but needs to become more relevant?.:lol::rofl What a bunch of bull**** excuses. They don't want to fight him at 168 because they know Ward will give them that work period. JCC Jr was irrelevant at 168 had no title and most think he sucks yet they were willing to fight him. I'm tired of all these excuses from team GGG when it comes to Ward just admit he's simply too good and we just don't want to take that risk. Step up and fight someone elite or him and his fans should shut the **** up.

    When was Ward's last relevant fight or when did Ward last bring in a lot of views? I think that's the point they're getting at

    Ward is high risk low reward fight that's not even in GGG's division.

    It's an excuse a fight between Ward-GGG would do big numbers of course people aren't tuning in for a fight with Smith put him in with GGG and it will do fine. Team GGG already knows this they're just trying to justify why they don't want the fight and people like you and others in this thread accept it. Ward is a horrible styles match up for him and you GGG apologist are pathetic you should want this fight but just like #48 fans never really wanted him to fight PBF you guys don't want GGG to fight Ward, you are no different than Pac****s.:lol::rofl Try telling this stuff to someone else because I see right through it.:deal If you thought Ward would be easy work you fools would be all over it. Just like you're all over Cotto and Canelo facing GGG.

    No he is not. Does Ward bring money, sold tickets and views? Do you think this would be a PPV fight? If so how many buys do you expect?

    JCC Jr was a low risk high reward fight that would expose GGG to Latino/Mexican market even more. It was a no brainer for them to make it.

    GGG is the next PPV king , with exciting fights in the pipeline that people will go crazy over , why in gods name does he want to go and fight ward that will just run and spoil all night long , **** ward , his time will come in a couple of years when hes proved himself again and actually built up an actual fanbase bigger than a few hundred people .

    I think Ward beats GGG and easily and I still want the fight to happen (albeit after the Canelo/Cotto fight), but I'll defend their decision to stay at 160 just as I will with any smaller fighter.
