They both need each other troll. A fight between them would do big numbers. Of course your dance partner matters. Do you think GGG would sell out an arena fighting Paul Smith?
Lol @ People trying to discredit Ward Look what happened to Kovalev fighting Mohammedi, they had less guys at the MGM Grand than I see at a local hockey rink :hi: Ward pretty much sells out the Oracle.
That's beside the point, my point is that for any other fighter, I've never seen him being required to move up in order to face an elite challenge if the elite guys in his own division are avoiding him. Usually people will go critique the elites in that fighter's own division rather than going after the fighter himself saying HE needs to move up, that's a total double standard to me.
I've not even got a problem if Ward doesn't face Kovalev, his division is 168, if he wants to fight there that's his pregorative.
The thing is, we KNOW there are weight divisions for a reason. If he wants to unify his division, okay. That's completely fine, he should do that anyways for his MW legacy! But if he keeps bringing up the fact that he's willing to fight at 168 against the bigger draws and then simultaneously calling out Ward at 164, then it's an issue. Now that those 2 (Froch/Chavez) are no longer there for him, he should simply shut up about Ward and stay fighting at 60. Stop bull****ting the public!
Are they bringing Ward up though? It seems like interviewers keep asking them about Ward and they usually answer saying it's not feasible at this time or their focus is 160, the 164 thing was ridiculous I agree but it seemed more like a deflection rather than serious offer (and they even admitted to it).
? Of course they are, did you not see an article a few weeks back about 164? Don't think it was a deflection. They ALSO said Ward was also ducking him when HBO asked them about the fight. GGG should stay at 160 Ward 168.
Yeah, well that's another matter altogether which I'll probably find myself in some agreement with Ward's fans... They just need to be straight with people and stop beating around the bush, but I think those quotes in the OP reaffirm their stance so hopefully we won't have to hear about this anymore.
Both sides should stop talking about the fight unless they're serious about doing it. That's all I'm trying to say, nothing more. Anyways, I'm going back to work, cya.
:-( The problem is 160 is weak and the guys with names like Cotto and Canelo won't fight him. I don't know how many times it needs to be stated? Cotto if he wins will either retire do a Canelo rematch or fight PBF. Canelo will either rematch Cotto fight PBF or fight soft touches for easy money. The WBC won't make Canelo fight GGG because they want him as their champ Canelo won't look to fight GGG for atleast 2 years and Canelo will hope that GGG has either moved up or has fallen off a bit before they fight him. This is very easy to see I don't know why GGG fans keep thinking that Cotto and Canelo are going to fight him because it's not going to happen.
Maybe, I'm just saying maybe you should shift your criticism towards those guys rather than having an expectation for a fighter to move up solely in the interest of facing an elite fighter because that's never going to happen. Fighters who do move up, usually do so AFTER they've established themselves as elite not before and if it's above their natural weight class, most of the time for the financial gain.
