Team GGG want Tureano Johnson next

I may be wrong but wasnt Ward after fighting both JCCJ and Froch?

 

I actually think Johnsons a slightly better opponent than Lemieux

my point was his fans had to backtrack from him saying "anyone at 168"....when he was talking about chavez and froch...when ward stepped up it became "well he said hed go to 168 for big money fights...ward isnt a big fight"

which of course is complete bs....everybody in the game knows who ward is....both guys get asked about the fight on a daily basis and its a huge topic on boxing boards....yet somehow nobody knows ward and nobody will watch them fight...lol

 

Ward needs to get a move on with his career, there are fights at 168 for him if he can make it but there is a career defining fight up at 175 with Kovalev, and since he fought at light heavy in the amatuers this shouldnt be a problem.

Golovkin only weighed in at 168 on fight night, he has no problem making the weight, Ward despite being a quality fighter cannot draw flies and whilst the fight would be good to see Golovkin is currently carving his own history out at 160. He will take Hopkins defence record.

 

Cotto vs Canelo is 1 month away, he can't wait until that's finished to negotiate with them instead?

 

I like Johnson. He did really well against Stevens, all the way until he got caught in round 10. Solid boxer, B level. Good stay busy fight, but no more than that.

 

Why wait? GGG is not getting any younger.

ward will fight kovalev...hell fight kova before ggg will fight ward....believe that....id bet on it.....

ward cant draw flies? who cares? we arent asking ward to carry a promotion.....ggg just fought lemieux....ward is much more well known in the sport........ggg and ward are asked about each other and fighting each other on a daily basis....ward is one of the bigger names in the sport....everyone knows him....boxing forums talk about ward/ggg daily(look at us now).....that means there is demand for it......so what if ward doesnt "draw" when fighting paul smith??? there is demand for ward/ggg and it would be a big fight.....to deny that or say anything else is pure idiocy....

 

1) I do not think either guy fights GGG.

2) GGG isn't 25, he is already 32? 33? He wants to be active. That is a breathe of fresh air these days.

3) He is getting a mandatory out of the way NOW instead of LATER.

Right, but if his plan is to fight the Cotto-Canelo winner to unify, wouldn't it make more sense to focus on that in the immediate future? If he fights Johnson in February, that pushes the super fight back, then they're inactive. He can wait ONE month to find out.

What if Cotto/Canelo pull the same card in January before Golovkin beats Johnson? "We can't wait, we want to stay busy."

 

So **** it? He shouldn't pursue the super fight and unification he's been harping about?

 

Cotto AND Canelo are known for drawn out, painful negotiations and severely prolonged deliberation. GGG will knock out Johnson and the negotiations will still be going in the background. No one is taking Tureano seriously.
