In a press conference in Bacolod, Pacquiao said British brawler Ricky Hatton offered a 52-48 sharing Friday night. They told us last night (Friday) they now want 52-48, were still looking at it if theres going to be readjustment, said Pacquiao in yesterdays press conference for the 2009 Smart National Amateur Boxing Championship here. But they also say they could go up to 55-45, I might agree to that, he added. http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?ArticleId=432715&publicationSubCategoryId=69
This is just all about ego Wether Hatton gets 40% or 45% or 50% He is still well paid He can still afford nice things and have a luxury lifestyle This is all about them saying they are worth as much as Pac Nonsense Pac is the NO 1 in the World right now Hatton fought Mayweather to try and achieve something near that status as was convincingly dismantled and knocked out proving he is a also ran when it comes to elite fighters Hatton 35% of the purse is probaly more like his worth for this one
naw, hatton deserves at least 40% but like i said before, i could care less who gets what as long as the fight goes down. and so far its looking good.
Sounds like Pac is being a bit of an arsehole about all this. If it was about pride and respect as he claimed then he'd just take the 52% to make his point (whatever it was). It sounds like BS to me though, what negoitator offers a 52/48 split and, before its even been accepted or refused, says that they'd go to 55/45 if they have to?
No its purely about wanting paying for the revenue they bring to the fight and thats damn close to 50% (if not more). I'm with RS on this though, as long as the fight gets made I'll be happy.
i'm sure its all business & nothing personal. team hatton knows pac is in the driver seat so by mentioning 52/48 knowing pac will not jump, they planted the seed about 55/45. -its all part of the art of negotiations.
You may be over complicating it, Pacs claim of the 55/45 offer is obviously bull**** so whats to say that Pacs claim of the 52/48 is any more real? His whole statement could well be bollocks. I really don't know myself but theres a lot of guess work going on and not a lot of facts coming out.
well if anything, its a sign that team hatton will probably take the **** end of the stick if the fight were to happen.
Thats some "**** end of a stick" though, eh? I understand that Pac may feel that being P4P means a 50/50 deal isn't acceptable to him but by the same token Hatton is bringing in more of the money. I'd have thought any offer over 51% for Pac should prove his point of being the more decorated boxer while also acknowledging the fact that Hattons popularity means he will get more money out of this than he deserves from a purely boxing point of view?
I would be careful about the veracity of the source....it sounds to me like Pac is lowering his ask rather than Hatton increasing his offer. No one would offer 52/48 and then say that they could go up to 55/45 , its plain stupid.
Team Hattons ceding a portion of the purse to Pacman camp show how big an earner this fight is for them. All this talk of '50/50 or we walk away as we've got another big fight lined up' appears to be pure bluster and Pacman and his men have called them on it.
