On the general issue, I still think 50/50's fair. The fight itself is what's going to sell. Sure, Haye brings a large UK PPV pot to the table, and arguably he'd also be reason enough to get the likes of HBO / Showtime involved, but the fact is that it's the combination that'll send it over the top. Haye will easily make back the 50% UK PPV lost across the global market simply because of the size of the fight.

As I said before, if there are no obnoxious rematch clauses, it sounds fair.

Although I do wish Haye would just accept the 50/50 deal, I think he's got a fair point about keeping the UK tv money.

Haye has done more interviews/promotion in this country for his fights than almost any other fighter I can think of. It's made him a household name over here and he should be congratulated for it. Its really put boxing back in the spotlight in the UK.

He's worked hard for that and I can understand not wanting to just hand half of it over to the Klitschkos who are not well known to the general public here. This may just be a matter of principle?

If the Klitschkos want to get him in the ring as desperately as they claim, why not just accept his offer? It's still a fair one.

The problem with pointing out Haye's PPV record against Valuev and Ruiz is that these fights were supposed to be in the lead up to a shot at a Klit, people didn't just want to see Haye, they wanted to see the guy that is supposed to knock the Klits of their ****ing perch.

The longer this drags on with no fight being made the more irrelevant Haye will become, naturally the Audley fight will do well, but after that what can he do? There will be no potential domestic circus's, he could fight Adamek or something, but a Klit will probably get there first. He will just be left to feast on the Klits leftovers and people will start wondering what the **** he's doing.

I honestly think both sides could have agreed. I think 50/50 was fair, but I can also see why Haye would feel him keeping 100% of the UK PPV money was fair. I would have hoped that because of how huge the fight was, both sides could have done more to make the fight happen. Sure, they'd lose a few percent but the money from America dwarfs that.

Though I don't agree with all the hate for Haye. Both sides could have done more than they did.

Look at it from his perspective though.

If we went into business and I put up 40% and you put up 60%, would you be happy to share the money 50/50? Haye factually brings more money to the table so why should ge backdown? Boxing is primarily a business and it's not in his favour to accept 50/50.

Haye has to be the only challenger in history who thinks 50/50 to fight the champ isn't fair.

Of course you are; you just have an unjustified feeling of entitlement to go with it.

I think the point is, theyre not even on British tv. The general public here havent really got much of a clue about them.

My wife loves watching boxing but even she keeps calling them "Valuev" and certainly couldnt tell one from the other.

I think that's pretty much common-place in the UK as far as the Klits are concerned.

But who outdraws who in Germany and the like, where the K Bros draw enormous crowds?

Is Vitali demanding all of that income?

The Klits are the bigger draw there without doubt and Vitali should get all of that income if Haye is to get all the UK money.
