How'd that work out for Gamboa vs. JML few yrs ago? Fans act like they are part of the business side. IDGAF how much they make, just want to see the best fights, preferably of guys still in their prime.

    :rofl:patsch

He brings more than any Lemieux opponent to date does. He brings a big unification fight.

Are the same people who bash every 154-168 fighter daily for not fighting Golovkin now randomly defending Lemieux?

Some of you posters who are saying, "well, now he won a title and has extra leverage" are the same people who rag on Cotto endlessly and dismiss those same exact "excuses" and risk/reward weighing for him.

    Get consistent, yo.

The winners fighting the next best option...?

The losers fighting top ranked opponents as well...?

Frankly you bring jack to the table as a poster but that never stops you from trying.

cotto sat on his title for more than a year after winning it. who knows how long until he fights canelo? then he has stated he'll be taking a long break again. lemieux will no way milk his title to nearly that extent.

ya but cotto has the corrupt wbc behind him. Can anyone tell me the last middleweight wbc mandatory fight? id say it more than likely happened 10 years ago

Lemieux will have to face a mandatorynext as the ibf are very good at enforcing mandatories, I think ggg should patition the ibf to make him the next mandatory so he will for sure get the fight next year

Nobody was/is mad at Cotto for taking too much time between fights.

They were/are mad at Cotto for not fighting one specific Middleweight.

Yep, GGG could fight N'Dam next and then request a mandatory status from IBF.

    I agree.

However, you are still wrong on what you replied to. The ratio of fans complaining about Cotto's inactivity compared to fans complaining about Cotto not fighting one particular fighter is massively one sided. They complain about him not fighting one particular fighter nigh infinitely more than they do about him taking one year off between the Sergio and Geale fights.

You're obviously not familiar with N'Dam's history of ducking GGG.

Golovkin doesn't want to get IBF mando status, Lemieux is not Cotto; not lineal, not a cash cow.

Plus, can you imagine how sh|t his opponent would be in that fight? No N'Dam, no BJS, we're talking sweatshop worker level of opponent.

Well then he'll need to fight a no name no-hoper in an IBF eliminator. Thing is, HBO won't buy it and K2 will see it as a step backwards.

I think Soliman will get signed to fight Lemieux in his mandatory defense... can you imagine being Soliman if D. Peoples asked him 'would you like to fight Lemieux for the title or would you rather fight Golovkin in an eliminator to Lemieux's title'?

    :D
