"I don't think Mayweather would be part of the discussion,Because Sergio would have a chance to beat him, and his foes are carefully chosen to lose to Mayweather. The odds would be like two or three to one...and Floyd likes eight or ten to one. He knows he'll sell a lot of tickets, his money is guaranteed...why screw that up?"

This came from Nathan Lewkowicz. Incidently, Martinez is fighting a guy Mayweather already beat. Martinez was also at least a 10-1 favorite in 3 of his last 4 bouts.

Yea, Martinez is a hypocrite who should be fighting GGG, not a guy coming up from 154 making his 160 debut.

Don't throw stones when you live in a glass house. I'm honestly done with Martinez and want him to get sparked. He's holding the 160 pound title hostage IMO.

Martinez is a natural 154 pound guy who made a career of beating the crap out of much larger people than himself.

That being said ofc Floyd wouldnt take the fight, not now, not when Martinez was at 154, and not ever. Martinez would dispatch Floyd with ease.

Based on what? Cotto is a step up for Martinez. Floyd is a staircase up.

To say that Martinez is a natural 154 is ridiculous. He said himself in the face-off that he Cotto could have tried to ruin his body by making him come in at 157 or 156.

By that logic Floyd is a natural 130 who has been fighting bigger guys his entire career as well.

Maravilla doesnt beat Floyd. He's not faster, isn't smarter, just stronger and would come in with a 15 pound weight advantage and would be outboxed fairly easily.

I dont rate Maravilla as high as other people. I like his style, but he isnt some Marvel to me at all.

In fairness to Martinez, I think he's fought quality competition.

This will be the 2nd guy he's bringing up from 154 to 160 for their "debut" to defend his Lineal Title. Sorry, I think that's wrong. There are other guys who have already established themselves at 160 that he should be fighting.

Cotto should at least beat ANYBODY at 160 before getting a title shot. Just completely bogus in my view and part of what is wrong with boxing.

I guess it really depends on your perspective. None the less, not many fighters have taken on and beat the consistent quality of fighters that Martinez has the last few years.

Kelly Pavlik and Paul Williams make his resume great. Without them, he lacks any sort of a "top tier" or "A-quality" victory on paper.

The Dzinziruk performance was great, but Dzin had never fought at MW before and although I rated him higher than most heading in at JMW, he has since proven to have been nothing special himself.

I give him full credit for destroying Paul, but that was awhile ago.

You are correct - 154 is big for Floyd. But its top edge for him and bottom edge for Martinez. You cant say Martinez is not a natural 154 guy because making that weight again would have been difficult after a long layoff when he is almost 40 years old.

Martinez is very quick, both in hand and footspeed. Floyds athleticism would pose no problems. He can be very unorthodox and hit from odd angles, with speed, and hits hard enough to KO big 160 pound guys.

I honestly dont fathom how Floyd would have a chance. Martinez wouldnt respect him at all. What has Floyd done at 154 that would lead anyone to believe that he could survive Martinez (provided his knee worked)
