Team Martinez nixes idea of Mayweather vs. Martinez bout

    Boxing is a business and a sport. I think Martinez has done a good job of mixing the two. He's fought good fighters while also making the biggest fights he could make. As far as fighting guys who are coming up in weight, that's pretty common in the sport. There's 18 divisions. Your bound to have guys loom to other divisions for opponents.

    They're not exactly nixing the idea, they're just saying they don't think it'll happen (and I agree). If Floyd offered them the fight though, they'd take it in a heartbeat.

    I think the only way we'd possibly see Floyd fight for the lineal Middleweight title is if Cotto wins and agrees to a catchweight of 155/156lbs.

    Didn't they offer Floyd an 80-20 spplit after he Ko'ed Williams ?

    Sergio was-is he still- a top 3 P4P fighter. This fight will gauge him nicely. If he is truly back he will beat the hell out of Cotto. If he is back he would KTFO Floyd, as he has way too much power and speed for Mayweather. I would buy that PPV though....to watch Floyd get hammered. But, Floyd will NEVER fight him, unless he is totally shot.
