If it did, it likely was to push for only 154 and not 160 where Canelo is GOING to be at eventually.


If they really only saying 147 and wont budge. Then Mayweather is being a *****.

If true, it's curious that this request did not come up when Canelo was fighting on his undercards.

 

After a couple days of venting at Floyd, I have a gut feeling he'll drop it and fight him at 154. My faith is really being tested here though.

 

Hopefully it's just a negotiating ploy to get a larger purse or something.

 

Yeah, when 2 current SWW champs are negotiating, usually the starting point is the weight.

 

There isn't much time to bull**** unless they're going to leave it for next May or just never. A September 14th date is right around the corner, particularly in terms of promotion. Canelo is just going to move quickly and fight Miguel Cotto.

 

It's a Mayweather tactic, make unrealistic demands of your opponent that you know will be refused and then claim that you made the offer and it was rejected so you're not ducking - cue all the *****s backing him up

I said before they fought that Floyd would make some crazy demand to ensure he avoided the fight...this is to plan. Anyone with power and hand speed, Floyd doesn't want it - anyone who can threaten that defense is off the table.

I hope this 147 thing is just rumour, like I said, if Floyd fights him and beats him he'll get massive props from people - rehydration of 164/165 is more than fair and leaves no room for complaint, it's a very acceptable weight difference as there's no way Mayweather is 150 on fight night when he fights at 154 (Cotto fight)!

 

154 or no fight. I could agree with a rehydration clause.

Still we've heard nothing from both camps really apart from Nelo's trainer who made the comment which was quoted first in the scene.

 

It isn't going to work as effectively here. There is nothing realistically blocking this fight if Canelo is even agreeing to and counter-offering a ****ing Catchweight.

 

He will. Once he knows Canelo's team won't budge, he'll accept the fight at where it's meant to be.

 

Why do you think that?

 

Because he knows it'll reflect badly on him if the fight isn't made. If the negotiations go to shits, Canelo will walk away with his reputation unscathed, whereas Mayweather wouldn't. Plans have existed for well over a year for these two to face one another at 154 -- the fighters, managers, promoters, fans, media, everyone's been expecting it -- and so if they weren't to fight each other due to Mayweather's hypocrisy, he will have concretely confirmed his reputation as a cherry-picker and be shitted on to no end.

Not to mention Canelo's still very beatable. Even if he does come in at 170.

 

Completely disagree. If there is one area that Floyd has remained 100% consistent in, is he never backs down from his demands. If Floyd is demanding 147, the fight will not happen at 154 - it means he doesn't want the fight.

As has been said, if Canelo has offered a 151 catchweight which sounds like he has, and that's still rejected then 154 simply won't happen.
