Lol Yeah good luck with that Louis. I don’t disagree with him but it’s going nowhere.

Much like Femi spitting out his shield when he was out on his feet although there is no reason I can see why Wilder was given the extra time here. It goes with the one eyed judges who had Wilder ahead.

The weird part is the total disregard for fan opinion. I guess they don't feel that negative fan opinion will mean less profit.

No kidding! Rules both in and outside the ring are for other people when guys like Wilder and Alvarez are involved.

ye it was bs... Ortiz should get a rematch wilder was messed up.. what would be karma is if Joseph parker somehow knocked out AJ at the end of the month.. and messed this whole thing up.. I would laugh so hard..

Bore off Ortiz. You had plenty of time to finish him off, you didn’t even jump all over him when round 8 eventually started. Took 20 seconds before you attempted a power punch.

I didn’t think it was right but I’ve seen it a few times in New York since they had to pay 20+ million to the Abdusalamov‘s family and remember hearing it will happen like this from now on( just NYC i think ). Their was a war on the jack/degale undercard which had two doctors check both fighters after the 1 min break before a round started. Not that I like this but people blaming wilder corruption need to educate themselves and watch more boxing. On a side note this is a reason I wouldn’t want my fighter fighting in NY. If I had an undefeated fighter with no rep I would be pushing for Vegas or cali.

    Check the film.

Wilder gets up a bit too quick and his knees wobbled.
    Happens to everyone.
The ref may have thought it was a concussion and wanted to make sure that the doctor looked closer.

Idk where the whole cut check comes from, since the doctor went right to Wilders pupils to check for PEARL.

If the NYSAC had another Mago situation on there hands it was not going to be on Fields or the ringside physician.

I can't find footage of Wilders corner between rds, but the ring doc may have nodded to the ref to step in at the first sign of trouble.
We don't know since we don't have interview transcripts or footage of the ref or ring doc being questioned irt to the extra 12/15 second.

If this outrages some of y'all, have a look at what Showtime consistently boasts as the greatest Rd of Championship Boxing, ie Castillo Corralles 1.
Corralles gets a 13 count, spits his mouth piece, then Goosen gives him another 5/6 secs.
Castillo lays him out again, and again he's given the longest 9 count I've seen. Out comes the mouthpiece and again Goosen gets him even more time.

Corralles lands a peach while Castillo looks to take Weeks and Goosen out of the fight, then Corralles lands a few shots on the gassed Castillo near the end of the Rd and Weeks jumps in waving it off and saving Corralles from the inevitable KTFO he would have taken in the 11th

you get the knockout during the fight. Arguing later about how you might have won a close call does not matter much. Ortiz almost won.

They are ultra sensitive about lawsuits if you like it or not. Should they have done it no. But do I think it was down right blatant? Nah. It was literally about 10 more seconds. They shined a God damn light in his eyes if anything that would screw with Wilder's eye sight. Ortiz fault for not jumping on him right away. You think deontay wouldn't have jumped all over Ortiz if roles were reversed? Too cautious. Crying over split milk to me. Shut up and finish him like he did you.

What will they do if Parker wobbles Joshua? I guess they have the spit the dummy move down. Maybe Eddie Hearn throws a half dozen beers into the ring?

Certainly expect to see David Fields in the ring for that one based on his masterful stalling tactics here.

People don’t want to hear this due to Wilder hate, but NYSAC changed the rules in the wake of the Abdusalamov situation to allow the physician to inspect a fighter to see if he’s fit to continue at any time. And the corner is allowed the full minute between rounds without interference from the doctor. It’s a safety thing and if it avoid a tragedy, that’s good for boxers and good for boxing.

Haymon's referee gave Wilder extra time to recover, I knew that during the fight, the commentators noticed it, then look at the scoring of Haymon's judges! Rematch should be ordered ASAP!
