I see where both sides are coming from, with Team Mayweather wanting to ensure that the other side isn't on something, and Pacquiao's POV is like "who are YOU to make me change my usual routine and disrespect me with accusations?"

But ultimately, if Pacquiao's ego (and greed) isn't so large that it still allows him to back down from the original 60/40 demand to go to 50/50 and give it millions of dollars, surely it's not so big that he's going to give up $30 or so million and a change at history and winning such a mega fight due to a drug test demand if there's nothing to hide.

What's going to be in your system that's not going to be there a week before?

He says he would be willing to be tested before the press conference. That would be 3 1/2 months before the fight. If he was taking something, he could easily wait until after the test.

What does that have to do with anything? He doesn't want to have it so close to the fight. That's all there is to it. Who are we to immediately jump to the conclusion that it is because he is juicing? If it was any other boxer (well, other than SSM or RJJ or Margo) there would be nothing like the quantity of slander being levelled here.

He just doesn't want it. Maybe because he is juicing, maybe because he is superstitious, maybe because he doesn't like needles. None of us know. The fundamental thing to note here is that he needs to be tested and he is not denying this. He is denying only that he be tested in the manner that Team Mayweather demands.

Koncz and Roach just said they are willing to do it a week before the fight.

"We agreed to $10 million per pound, or fraction thereof," Schaefer said. "That's what the Pacquiao side wanted and we said OK to that. That's unheard of. We have agreed on everything except for this drug testing issue. I have to think Pacquiao is unaware of this. The drug testing had been part of the contract for a while and then they suddenly said no. I was informed of that [Tuesday] morning. Suddenly they changed course and I don't know why."

The olympic style testing has been part of the contract for a while now. Part of that testing is random tests. It's no longer random if he chose when he wants it done. They take a relatively small amount of blood and your body replaces it in a very short time. Roach said he doesn't want blood drawn 24 hrs before the fight. However, no blood will be drawn 24 hrs. before the fight. I'm sure this will get worked out.

And what if he changes his mind after the fight like he's doing now?

I've been out the loop for a day or so, is this story legit?

I'm a big Pac fan but if it is then I'm scratching my chin with a dubious look on my face. This looks very VERY suspect if true.

    Quote:
Early today Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, was contacted by Top Rank President Todd duBoef, who informed Schaefer that Pacquiao would not agree to have his blood taken within 30-days of the bout based on the fighter's superstition of testing so close to a fight..
    and this is Pac's reply:

    Quote:
Schaefer commented, "Todd told me that Pacquiao has difficulty with taking blood and doesn't want to do it so close to the fight. He, Pacquiao, would only agree to have blood drawn before the kick-off press conference and after the fight."
In other words, Pac is willing to have a blood test but not on the date set by the Mayweathers. So again, what's this all bs that Pac doesn't want to be blood tested when he actually agreed to be tested not once but twice!

A very nice way to spin the news and make it appear that Pac doesn't want to be tested.

If it's in the contract then he's LEGALLY obligated to it, wouldn't he?

It's a random drug test. It's no longer random when you can pick and choose when you'll do it.

I'm not a lawyer. What's the consequence if he refuses?

What's not going to be there a week before that will be there 3 days prior to a fight?
