Team Pacquiao concerned with penalties if blood test(s) come back dirty

According to Arum, the information provided to Smith was a complete fabrication. Top Rank and Pacquiao's Team had never made those requests in any shape or form, says Arum. He views it as false information being planted in the media to hurt Pacquiao's credibility.

The Mayweather side has no control over punishment for positive test results for PEDs. That's the realm of Nevada Athletic Commission so the article never made sense in the first place...

The notion that the fight would still go on in spite of a positive test for PEDs is ridiculous....also the notion that the Mayweather camp (even if they had full autonomy over the release of test results) would keep a "secret" that would prove what they've been saying all along not to mention being an absolute defense against a slander case is atsch

 

However, the notion that such info. could be kept secret and an alternative reason for pulling out of the fight could be made, is far less ridiculous.

If the test exceeds the bounds of sanctioning body testing I am sure the athletes would have to do BOTH tests. The results of the sanctioning body's tests would be "official". The results of the contract based testing would be "terms of the contract". The ADDITIONAL testing's results would NOT be under the purview of the sanctioning body. Both parties could agree to seal said results and/or the penalties associated with said results. The athletic commission could make a legal challenge to get the results.

Also, saying you are going to sue is completely different than getting an attorney and filing a case. Pac is flapping his gums. Get the case filed THEN Team Mayweather will need to formulate a defense.

No. If the testing is UNOFFICIAL the results can't be used by the athletic commission in an OFFICIAL way.

The people doing the UNOFFICIAL way COULD be used by them to modify their agreement in a LEGAL.

What gets me is why they are asking can the results be kept secret like Mayweather of any other fighter for that matter would fight someone who is roided up to eyeballs.

I understand how it can "get you" but it kind of makes sense. Think about it...

If a guy is really using roids? He won't fight without them. Boxing is one of those funny sports where it is as much about hype as it is about talent. Maybe even more. So no matter what if a mega fight is made the planets have aligned. You may or may not get another chance at it.

In this case both guys come to the table on pretty equal footing. So everything is split down the middle. Nobody can really gain advantages. Any advantages he had FMJ gave them up to make the fight. Probably because he feels he can whip the guy regardless. Here is where the "fight anyway" comes in...

If you KNOW the guy is dirty all leverage tips to you. He could flip the fight to 70/30, take the PPV, etc... Why? Because the positive test is even greater than the fight itself. You also save face on the *possible* loss. You become even greater if you win.

So it could be a VERY calculated risk to accept the fight anyway.
