I also remember when pac ran away and chose to fight clottey. A couple more days and they could have compromised but pac ran like a *****.
It is called IMPASSE. What did he do when Gayweather insisted on his own cut-off date, he fought. And you are an idiot if you are comparing those two situatuions. They negotiated but can not come to agreement - big difference. Ran away to fight Clottey? I doubt Gayweather would run towards Clottey. Not old enough and definitely too heavy. And besides, he has losses.
I agree with pretty much the rest of your post, but highlighting this sentence. Him waiting 1 more day would not have made sense. It would have meant more inactivity whilst he waits for Pacquiao to recover (Mayweather wouldn't know that the fight would be over in 2)...and then comes the negotiations, which would no doubt have been as difficult as was the actual negotiations, which would leave both without opponents, and more inactivity for Mayweather.
Ok, 24 then. And the 14 days was after Mosley, yes. But still, my post tries to take a step back and look at all the concessions that have been made during this time, regardless of when or why they happened. Because the fact is, Pac has made more of a commitment to the fight than Floyd has, despite Pac, who only needs to go by what the commission demands, not really needing to.
They have 3 different views because they are **** at communicating with one another. They've been inconsistent, yes. But their inconsistency isn't what's stopped this fight from happening.
At that point, nobody would know that it would be a difficult fight to negotiate. You are basing your facts on facts after matter. What's the worst case scenario - fight would be negotiated for 1 month and no agreement reach - What's the best case scenario - negotiations would be smooth If after negotiations and they are at STALEMATE, then move on to JMM. As to the outcome of the Hatton fight, of course nobody would know that Pac does not need time to recover. That is the whole essence of waiting 2 - 3 hours before announcing his fight. But of course, Gayweather's mentality at that time was that he was not ready to fight Pac due to ring rust and instead need a tune-up. That doubt however persisted when Pac started annihilating his opponents. Gayweather actually tried to steal the thunder of the Pac -Hatton fight by putting himself in the limelight - a big no no in sports world. It is like rescheduling the NBA finals to coincide with the superbowl.
I think Pac is happy to give in to what Floyd wants (i.e. unlimited random testing until the day of the fight). I think Koncz and Arum won't concede this point to Floyd yet until all the issues has been ironed out. Perhaps they are using it as a main bargaining chip. Alas, Floyd is probably doing the same.
I didn't state facts concerning the negotiations, I am assuming just like yourself. Almost any other scenario other than announcing the bout with Marquez the day before Hatton-Pacquiao creates more inactivity for Mayweather (ignoring the postponement). That bout had already been negotiated and signed for at that point, they chose to announce the bout the day before Hatton Pacquiao because they wanted to take some of the shine off of that bout...and they succeeded in doing that (until Pacquiao destroyed Hatton).
I am just addressing that the negotiations would be difficult as a given fact - certainly at that time, no one knew how difficult it is to deal with divas - thus the fact after matter. Meaning only God knows at that point in time. Other than that - cool.
We could have a trilogy already because I am sure Gayweather would not win the first fight. Not with his inactivity and ring rust.
True, which makes it even more depressing really. The longer Mayweather is out of the ring, the bigger chance Pacquiao has of winning. But the longer Mayweather is out of the ring, and Pacquiao is still fighting...the bigger chance Pacquiao has of losing (especially when fighting bigger guys). If Pacquiao can't get negotiating with Mayweather again by late 2011, early 2012...I don't see it ever happening, and I don't see many/if any legacy enhancing bouts for Pacquiao.
Already said it last year, Floyd is as good as retired. Now Leon is saying it too! Manny is fighting for money now - he deservedly earned it. And I find it stupid when they started blurting out names like Bradley or Alexander in the equation.
I hope he isn't, but if he can't/doesn't want the Pacquiao bout being made...there isn't many people I would want to see him in the ring with. Martinez maybe being the exception (if he would take that bout).
