Team Parker have been very vocal in stating that they think their upcoming bout with Andy Ruiz Jr. will be a far more difficult test than a fight with David Haye who they think Parker will "blast through in two or three rounds". Thoughts? Would Haye not be a fairly heavy favourite should if he fought Ruiz Jr.?
Team Parker might well be right. There's no evidence that David Haye could last 5 or 6 rounds with any half-decent and motivated heavyweight these days. Haye doesn't want to be fighting. He might never fight again. He's an old injury-prone guy, a small heavyweight carrying too much bulk now. He's finished, almost certainly. Obviously he could probably take another 5 years off boxing and at least half of this forum will retain their blind-faith in him, but for the rest of us he needs to do something to prove something.
Haye has power speed and experience over Ruiz who has trouble even figuring out journeyman in sparring that present awkward looks. haye would blast Ruiz out and make it look easy. Stylistically the main thing really is footwork and body type, ruiz cannot shift his body in the positions Haye can ,night and day athletes.
So if most people don't like Ruiz' chances against Haye, then why are Team Parker hyping up Ruiz and playing down their next challenger? Do they really believe fat Andy is the tougher challenge?
In the incredibly little we've seen of Haye I'd still have him as more of a threat than Fat Andy just on punching ability. Parker's there to be hit by pretty much anyone and the last thing to go is a puncher's power.
Haye beats Ruiz and Parker. Parkers team just trying to build up the fight as they won't have long to do so. Bookies would have Haye as heavy favourite also, implied by the fact they have Parker around 14/1 to beat AJ and Haye around 7/4 - 15/8. Obviously Haye would prefer a shock win from Ruiz, but he does them both.
In an interview that went live on Sky Sports today. ,heck it out here: http://www.skysports.com/boxing/new...thony-joshua-in-a-unification-clash-next-year
You guys are absolutely insane if you believe that. Haye would totally destroy Parker, they are light years apart in terms of ability. Even old, rehabbed Haye is way quicker and has much faster hand speed than Parker.
I think it seems obvious they don't want the Haye fight and a 10% Haye blows away fat Andy I think they will look to unify asap, a Haye fight is a good pay day, but a AJ unification is simply huge for them. They will be hoping AJ gets past Wlad
They are just trying to sell Parker - Ruiz by saying it's a better fight than Parker - Haye. In my opinion, though, I'm not 100% sure they are wrong. We don't really know what this version of Haye is like though, he hasn't faced anyone half decent so I don't know if he still has it. A shot Haye can still smash De Mori's and Gjerjgaj's, especially if they don't throw any punches back. Don't get me wrong, I'd certainly pick a prime Haye against both Parker and Ruiz but I'm waiting to see him fight someone decent before talking up his chances against anyone in the top 10/20.
I think Fat Andy is as bad a contender to contest a vacant title as any and that even a significantly diminished Haye would still beat him without too much fuss. It suggests to me that they're looking to get an AJ payday as a priority. The language used in that Sky interview begging up England as a boxing nation pretty much screams give us the money. That's not to say that Team Parker doesn't think he'd beat AJ and Haye, I believe they're a confident bunch but see Haye as a potential spanner in the works. At this stage of Haye's career, he's offers plenty of risk for little reward.
I don't read into anything Dean Lonergan says. Much like you brits listening to Eddie Hearn. It's all marketing, pure and simple. Re: Haye, Not sure he would want to fight Parker. Especially knowing the big dollars are lying elsewhere, and he seemed to somehow got himself into a position that he can pick and choose. I'm thinking the WBA route is where he may head.
